Dark, translucent mahogany with a medium tan head that disappears quickly. Aroma of sweet malt, toffee, caramel, and a bit of piney hops. Flavor is primarily sweet, and just barely cloying, with upfront sweet malty, toffee flavors. Saved by a nicely balancing crisp hop bite, and more of the pine first found in the aroma. For the most part, this is a fairly standard barley wine - malt-forward and sweet with heavy alcohol - but improves on that standard considerably with pine and bitterness. Surprisingly quaffable.

Bottle sample at Beer Market Jaffa. Thanks zvsn. Clear deep amber-brown with a nice stable beige head. Aroma of malt, caramel, biscuits and some stale hops. Sweet flavor, malty, with caramel, cookies, stale hops and a bitter finish. Rounded mouthfeel. Decent.

Dark, ruddy walnut brown. Tight tan head. Bright, hoppy 2xAIPA aroma. Very nice. West coast hops, lots of darkish malting, sturdy bittering but I wouldn’t call it aggressive. A bit on the acidic side, but great balance otherwise. Maybe a little fruitiness. Tell ya what... sight unseen, I’d bet on a Uinta brew anytime based on what I have had to this point. Growler County.

2 year old bottle. Aroma of caramel and tobacco. Taste is medium hoppy, with notes of said caramel and tobacco, but also some tofee, bread and pine. Really, really good and balanced after 2 years.

Bottle @tasting. Aroma is huge fresh hops, caramel, liquorice, fruits, raisin/plums, etc etc. Promising. Flavour is liquid bitter and hoppy for a barleywine, with big caramel, liquorice and fruits. Very nice.

On tap at Draught 55..reddish brown with thin off white head.aroma of caramel,spices,hops..taste of caramel,brown sugar,hops..boozy but not overpowering.

Deep deep amber/brown with lasting white foam. Aromas detectable from a long way away. Dark fruits, blackberry jam, buttered toast, nuts. Taste is big, bold, boozy. Sharp caramel and jam opening, moving to toffee/cereal bittersweet finish. Bitter throughout preventing the sweetness from becoming overpowering. An "American" barley wine I would say.

Pours a clear brown with a tan head. Pretty thin looking. Aromas of caramel, some light floral notes. Taste is sweet and lightly bitter. Flavors of toffee, caramel, pine sap. More bitter as it warms. Alcohol is barely noticeable. Thin. Very English style. Solid.

Bottle from 99 bottles. Pours dark brown. Thin tan head. Scent is alcohol and sweetness. Taste is a little less sweet. Malty, some dark fruits. Pretty good beer.

@ The Ginger Man à Manhattan. En fût, Un superbe barley wine intense, sucré avec une forte dose de houblon. On se rapproche du sucre d’orge tellement c’est intense. Les houblons amères sont piquants sur la langue. Une bière extrême tant au nez qu’en bouche.

15th anniversary bottle pours a black color with a small head. Aromas of oak, dark fruits,. Full bodied, probably a year or two past it’s peak.
