COMMERCIAL DESCRIPTION
First brewed in small batches annually to commemorate Uinta’s anniversary, this soul-warming brew is now available year-round. (Uinta’s anniversary is observed and noted by the change of the roman numeral on the label.) Uinta’s award winning barley wine has a dark amber hue with a rich malty character. Serious amounts of hops are used to balance its hardy alcohol content of over 10% ABV. Originating in England in the nineteenth century, barley wines are brewed with the same traditional ingredients as beer: water, malted barley, hops and yeast. There are no grapes or fruit used in the brewing process. The name “barley wine” refers to its alcohol content being similar to that of most wines, ranging from 8.5% to 14% ABV. Unlike most beers, barley wines age remarkably well. If you have the will power, set an Anniversary Barley Wine aside for a year or more.

Smells and pours thick. Almost like a cough syrup. SUPER Smooth. What a great barley wine.

Bottle - Pours copper with a filmy light tan head. Nose is pretty sharp and boozy with lots of pine and citrus hoppy notes. Taste has a big caramelly bready body with some yeasty dough and more grass/pine/citrus hoppiness. Slick and medium-bodied with medium-low carbonation.

Strong Grapefruit, pine hop aroma with malt notes of licorice, plums and bread. Appearance is a light brown with an off white head. Flavor has a strong grapefruit, pine hop flavor. Malt flavor is bready with notes of caramel. Mouthfeel is medium full with medium carbonation. Overall, it's a pleasant tasting American barleywine. ---Rated via Beer Buddy for iPhone

Subdued aroma of grapefruit and caramel. Pours a caramel Color from bottle but sits deep amber in glass with a of white didn’t head with some retention and good lacing. Palate is soft and smooth, fairly light body. Malty flavor with slight charred character and mild bitterness in finish. Not my favorite.

Aroma - sweet caramel malts and some dough, as well as some honey. Appearance - tenne orange body, with nice nucleation. Head is off-white and starts at 1/2" and fades slowly. The head settles into a nice layer of foam. There is some dappled lacing. Taste - sweet malt, with burnt sugar, alcohol, some honey, saffron, and Columbus hops. Palate - body is closer to full than medium, the texture slightly oiled and also slick, the carbonation average, the finish has a some bitter hops and astringent alcohol.

I poured it from the bottle into a pint glass. It pours a dark reddish color with an off-white head and some lacing. The aroma is boozy with hops and fruit. The taste is bitter hops, dried fruit, alcohol, and wood. The alcohol is noticeable and warming. This is a good sipping beer. It’s definitely a heavy hitter.

Deep reddish brown. Nose full of toasty malts, caramel, dark fruit, raisin, grapefruit hops and mild pine. Flavor is more of the same with toasted malt, raisin, caramel, and bitter grapefruit. No booze to be found. This was outstanding, very surprised by the other ratings.

Not the best Barleywine I've had. Tasted a little yeasty. (Was old though.) ---Rated via Beer Buddy for iPhone

Anniversary XV. 2008 vintage 12 oz. bottle from the Brick Store Pub. Dark brown, with a medium, beige head. The aroma is burnt caramel, toffee, brown sugar, pine, and some rotting leaves. Sweet and roasty flavor, with some light bitterness. Heavy body, syrupy, and a little astringent. This is an interesting barley wine. Dank hops and very roasted. Not that bad, just strange.

Nice color, and head, especially for the abv. Reddish and cloudy but that is okay by me. Off white head. Some retention. Fruity nose, subdued, a bit of caramel. Nice mouthfeel, initially syrupy, and carbonated, then very swiftly some hoppy character kicks in and it is quite a nice treat, not one of the sickeningly sweet barley’s.

12oz bottle from the Malt Shoppe in Tosa. Cellar aged 4 months and served at cellar temperature. Pours a reddish brown with a beige-orange head leaving some streaky lace. Aroma has dark fruits, sweet fruits, caramel, pine. Fruity and tangy, in an "American Strong" way. Taste is of sweet caramel, sweet dark fruits, light nut, and heavy pine. Quite hoppy, very tangy fruity. Medium to full bodied and surprisingly low alcohol presence for the abv. Finishes sweetly fruity and tangy, and long. Nice, hoppy brew. Not too barleywine-ish, more like a caramelly American Strong to me. Good stuff! 14.2
