Bottle at home. Cola colored pour with a chunky, mocha head. Aroma is chocolate and funk. Very light bodied. Flavor is like a very light porter - woody, ash, smoke, stale coffee, and some red berries on the finish. Very clean finish, with mild hopping.

December 18th, 2012 - Uinta’s been making the rounds around Colorado, popping up most prominently in the "Build Your Own Six Pack" coolers. I tend to avoid these, because these mostly like methods by which to pad Ratebeer review counts, rather than expand my palate’s experience. But there’s also pleasure in trying out other breweries’ core lines - the Fat Tires and Boston Lagers across the United States. So, for this six-pack I chose to buff up on my Uinta brews, beginning with one sexily labeled beer I’ve generally heard good things about: the Baba Black Lager. The nose contains almond and toffee notes, with some of the body coming from what smells like crystal malt, and a sprinkling of flax - light and airy and clean. The taste is also mild, reminding me of an Irish stout without the dank grain taste of barley. The roasted malts is doing most of the work here, delivering what flavor it can on a clean light palate. The general impression is like a simpler, cleaner and less engaging Guinness, which is not my favorite style or approach, but a refreshing change of pace from San Diegan IPAs for sure.

It poured a black color with a tan head. The aroma was of roasted malts, earth and some funk. The taste was of roasted malts with coffee and chocolate notes and a little smokiness. Thanks Hayduke.

Can (12 oz). Black with a huge beige head and good lacing. Aroma is of roasted malt, fruity notes, toffee and light pine. Taste is soft with roasted malt, fruity notes, molasses, resinous notes and very light bitterness. Light/medium body. Medium carbonation. Smooth and slightly creamy mouthfeel. Slightly dry finish. Very good drinkability. Light, but quite tasty. Good balance! Nice product.

Dark cola colored beer with a white head. Aromas of peat and dark chocolate. Tastes of smoked malts, peat, some meaty flavors, earthy notes, and some dark chocolate. Bitter, smoky finish. Surprisingly smooth. This was great.

@ Party Town / Florence KY --- Clear deep brown color, long-lasting 1/2" tan head, swirls and bands of lace. Taste is toasted caramel malt that purrs through the palate, adding butter rum, and then just a twist of hops to keep everything well-balanced in the finish. An amazing Schwarzbier, especially at only 4% abv. High recommendations.

Tap at Lazy Dog. Pours a dark brown with a layer of tan head. Taste pig roasted malts and chocolate. Aroma of toast.
