The aroma of caramel and sweet malt is very nice and telling. The flavor follows suit with caramel and bread. A very clean a crisp feel.

3.4 AROMA 8/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 6/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 12/20
Picked this up recently for $1.50 for a 120z bottle. Dark black with brown accents at the edges. Smells like burnt toast but in a good way as well as a honeyed cereal that I can’t quite put my finger on, good smell. Taste is more like a standard black lager, a tiny bit of roasty malt, not nearly as good as the smell.

12 fl oz bottle at the beer bar inside NK Saluhall, lowest level of the NK building in Stockholm. Very nice place. Sampled on November 14, 2012.
Bottled on 08/14/12
Clear dark brown color, brown head. Sweet, malty, grainy, lactic, caramel, some light smoke and salt scent. Mineral, cream, roasted, dry, grainy, malty taste. Medium but a bit spritzy mouthfeel, medium bitterness that finishes quite dry. Dry grainy aftertaste. A bit too dry for me, I’d like some more sweetness. A good nice well made beer though.

Bottled at Oliver Twist, Stockholm. Transparently black, rich beige head. Distinct coffee aroma. Dry with light body and crisp rounded mouthfeel. Coffee and licoric. Mid bitter finish. Well balanced with concentrated roasty flavours, yet good drinkability.

3.5 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 14/20
Draft at Creek Monkey. Pours a very deep brown with some amber highlights at the edges but otherwise opaque. Small off-white head. Aroma of rich chocolate and roasted malts, dust, earth, nuts, and a bit of root beer. The flavor follows the same lines. Light-medium bodied, with low carbonation and a smooth, mellow mouthfeel. Quick finish. Unfortunately a little undercarbonated. Otherwise a really nice schwarzbier.

3.4 AROMA 5/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 8/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 14/20
Faint smokey malt scent, no hint of the flavor to come. Solidly dark brown, almost stout like in appearance. Intense coffee and chocolate flavor, interplays with the bitter zing of a well hopped lager. Very crisp, very refreshing. Combines may dark beer attributes with the overall weight and feel of a pilsner. Bottled 7/18/12.

4.1 AROMA 8/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 8/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 17/20
Pours black, khaki head with nice lacing to bottom. Little smoky, roasty and some plum on the end of the nose. Taste is clean, smoke is there but not overwhelming, nice creamy mouthfeel. Amazing this beer has so much going on for 4%
