Robust and smooth, this full-flavored lager is exceptionably drinkable and pitch black in color.

UPDATED: DEC 29, 2014 Didnít want o rate this as high as I did, but I did... then I rated it again. Pours a dark cola with a decent head. The aroma: caramel, bread, cereal, chocolate, nuts, roasty, slight resin, slight spruce, a little cheese, some basement aromas, banana, butterscotch, really light smoke, some skunky, some vanilla, itís actually pretty interesting. The taste is nice but WAY lopsided to sweetness. Light bodied palate, creamy, soft carb, a long soft velvet finish. Nice.

Pours black and thin with a half inch of beige foam that fell quickly to some suds and bubbles. Did not leave fantastic lace. Filmy on top and a thin ring. This beer had a cola colored hue that I would say was reddish. Nose was soft and mellow. Toasted and roasted grain. Breaddy malt with a hint of brown sugar. A touch of bitter chocolate, cola and some grass. Slight whiff of burnt toast. Taste follows the nose all the way. Body of the beer is very smooth and mellow. The chocolate and the roasted grain are smooth, and with that small touch of brown sugar keeps the palate interested. The mid palate finds a small bitter and earthy grass. Finishes dry but without a lot of aftertaste. The cola and the carbonation are both soft and even though there are a few bites from bubbles they do not offend.

This was a very neutral tasting beer. Clean an had plenty of character. It dries out slowly in the finish with a nice lingering bitter after all and was subtle and roasty on the palate. Itís all about the grain and was not harsh but smooth and balanced.

12 oz. bottle poured to a Czech-pils glass with a ruby-highlighted, black/brown color, with frothy, brownish tan head foam, and spots & wavy spray to the lacing.. The aroma was light grain, roastiness, some cocoa, creamy malt, and a bit of molasses. The flavor added a medium, earthy, and smokey bitterness. Light to medium bodied, with good carbonation, there was a bit of wateriness to the texture, but a fair malt base nonetheless. Dry finishing, not harsh, and basically a decent, sessionable Schwartzbier.

Bottle. Pours deep brown with a beige head. Lightly roasted malts, toffee, and a hint of malta goya. Not that good, but not bad either.

12 oz - Thereís nothing wrong, just nothing compelling. Itís a basic lager with some porter notes blended in. I donít get it.

Decent black lager, not stellar. Taste is average, fizz is about right. Colour is predictably black.

Nearly black with a light brown head. Roasted malt aroma with faint hints of chocolate, caramel, and bread. Palate has a medium-light body, moderately thin and soft carbonation. Flavor is malty, a little bit of bitter coffee, .a little bit of chocolate. Smokey, roasted malt aftertaste. Overall a mix of darker, roasted flavors combined with lighter, refreshing drinkability.

Pours black with a tan head.. Smells of toasted malt, chocolate malt, espresso, and smoke. Taste is sweet chocolate malt, smoke, espresso and a slightly bitter finish. The body is a little weak, can taste the water just a touch which I am not a huge fan of. It is great though.
