Bottle (355 ml) from Systembolaget. Clear dark reddish brown, medium beige head. Grainy, roasted malt aroma with notes of tar, smoked sausage and salmiak. Light bodied, soft carbonation. Dry with medium bitterness.

Pours dark dark brown with low to medium brown white head. A bit trasparent. Malty aromas and hints of dark fruits Very drinkable nice lager with touch of bitterness from the dark malts. Nice overall but nothing out of the ordinary

From the bottle this pours pitch black, crimson edged and with a good inch of light tan foam which fades pretty quickly. The aroma is a touch of spicy, chocolately, pale roasty goodness. Tastewise, chocolate comes to the fore, followed swiftly by a toasty nuttiness, almost like nutella spread on whole wheat toast. Nice smooth finish and medium bodied, lovely.

Bottle, 355 ml - Clear red brown beer with a medium sized beige head. Aroma is malty with notes of chocolate, nuts, coffee, licorice root and caramel. Flavor is light malty with slightly sour licorice root notes. A bit disappointing palate considering the aroma, but considering the 4% this is still a great Swartzbier.

Great beer but it could be some more ABV. Nice dark colour and head. The carbonate could also been increased. Overall ok but not more. Wonderful label though! ---Rated via Beer Buddy for iPhone

Pours pretty much black with a thumb of frothy light tan head. Aroma of roasted malt, citrus, leather and maybe just a hint of soy. Taste is nicely burnt with light bitterness at first before it develops into a more complex balance between sweet bread and bitter roasted malt. Body is a touch too light for the taste but that’s expected of the style.

12 oz bottle. Pours dark mahogany to near black with reddish tints when held up to the light; has a quickly disappearing beige head. Aroma smells like toasted marshmallows, but it’s pretty muted. Taste is roasty and sweet with a little bitterness in the finish. Medium bodied with average carbonation. Nice one.

I’ve seen this on the shelves here for quite awhile now, and finally picked some up last week. 12oz bottle poured into a stemmed lager glass. Pours a deep black, like a stout. Small beige head on top that dissipates very quickly. Aroma of hot chocolate, dry husky grains, graham crackers. Easy subtle feel. Though this beer looks heavy, it is very light on the palate. Almost too easy to drink this one. Heavy-hitting roasted chocolate flavors present. Sweet mellow flavors meld with a dry cracker finish. Cereal grains on the back end. This little beer packs on the flavor. This is organic too? Nice. A nice little beer here. This is a style that is underrated in my mind, and one I need to revisit more and more. Cool label art to boot.
