4 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 5/5 TASTE 8/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 16/20
Dark with a thick light tan head. Light roasted aroma with a sugary sweetness. A bit watery for me but with a pleasant chocolate flavor.

4.7 AROMA 9/10 APPEARANCE 5/5 TASTE 10/10 PALATE 5/5 OVERALL 18/20
Appearance: near black, (ruby highlights when held to the light) with two-fingers of creamy light tan head shrinking to a thick collar and leaving generous lace rings. Aroma: dark chocolate, cacao, coffee, pumpernickel, a hint of smoke. Taste: predominantly bitter dark chocolate, a bit of roast coffee beans, slightly burnt toast, mellow, earthy hops. Finish: smooth, clean, with lingering dark malts balancing against earthy hops. Notes: A written description cannot do this beer justice. Simply the best schwarzbier I’ve ever had, better than traditional German versions, better than any American attempt. Beautiful pour, attractive nose, delicious, balanced flavors, creamy-but-refreshingly-drinkable palate, and a sessionable 4% abv. Near perfect. I’m very sad that I only grabbed a single bottle, and will be on the lookout for more.

3.9 AROMA 8/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 8/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 15/20
12 ounce bottle into pilsener glass, bottled on 5/7/2012. Pours crystal clear dark reddish brown color with a nice 2 finger dense tan head with great retention, that reduces to a nice cap that lingers. Some good soapy lacing clings to the glass. Aromas of dark chocolate, coffee, toast, char, caramel, roasted malt, and light earthiness. Very nice and well balanced aromas with good strength. Taste of dark chocolate, char, roasted malt, coffee, caramel, toast, herbal, and earthiness. Lingering notes of roasted malt, coffee, dark chocolate, herbal, and earth on the finish for a short bit. Nice balance and robustness of flavors. Fairly dry on the finish with no cloying at all. Medium carbonation and light-medium bodied; with a lightly creamy and crisp mouthfeel that is good. Alcohol is well hidden with zero warming as expected of 4%. Overall this is a very nice schwarzbier. Very nice balanced and robust flavors for a 4% beer; very smooth to drink. Very enjoyable stuff. If I could get this around here, this would definitely be a nice session beer choice.

3.3 AROMA 6/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 6/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 14/20
Consumed from bottle so not the best review. Very nice roasty malt aroma. Flavor has both caramel and black/burnt/roasty notes to it and they compliment each other well. Finish is quite clean and smooth. Nice brew.

3.4 AROMA 8/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 13/20
Bottle; poured a very dark brown with a big brown head. Aroma of roasted malt, cocoa, chocolate, a bit of smoked meat. Good aroma. Flavor was not as good, but a solid experience. Flavor a bit muted at times, but the finished had a light lingering finish. Roasted, with mellow caramel and chocolate notes.

3.8 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 16/20
Bottle. Very dark brown with mahogany highlights and a medium tan head. Rich roasty aroma and flavour with chocolatey undertones. Medium bodied, which is a surprise considering the ABV here. A really tasty schwarz.

3.9 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 8/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 17/20
Wow, the shape of this bottle makes for a very nice pour. Beatiful black smooth looking liquid. First taste is very friendly mild stout attributes, very nice. Yesssss, very nice, I’m liking this experience. Mild char on back of throat and even tho it builds thru the session, it never goes over the top. As session continues I think I would like to have a case of this stuff. Very nice really nifty black beer experince. Yes, almost as good as Xingu, Krušovice Černe, Buckbean Black Noddy Lager, Shiner 97 Bohemian Black Lager, Full Sail Session Black Lager, Brick Waterloo Dark & Magic Hat Howl

Bottle from Total Wine & More in Henderson, NV. Very dark pour with a smaller spotty head. Aroma is ash, light smoke, with a roasty malt element that finishes slightly dry. Pretty good stuff.
