3.2 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 6/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 12/20
Bottle sampled at Classic City Brew Fest 2014. Pours a translucent brownish black with fluffy tan head. Aroma is done dark roast with underlying soy and fruity lager esters. Taste is a hint sweeter with a dirty back end. Meh.

3.8 AROMA 6/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 8/10 PALATE 5/5 OVERALL 15/20
Great embossed bottle and label - stellar cap. Aroma has two distinct personalities - freshly opened and then warmed. Freshly opened, the aroma is all about toasted soy, damp dog and slight roast. Warmed, the aroma is much sweeter, and the roast comes through more with slight creosote. Mouth and flavor are extremely smooth - mouthy, frothy, good roast, lightly sweet, only roast bittering. Fine-grained carbo. Pencil shavings and roast on the backend. Haven’t had anything from Uinta yet that I didn’t want another of. ABC, Betton.

2.5 AROMA 6/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 5/10 PALATE 2/5 OVERALL 8/20
Black pour with a small tan head. Aroma of roasted black malt with a dash of earthy cocoa. Light bodied brew with a flavor of dark chocolate, and earthy burnt roast. Dry and light and not my style.

3.4 AROMA 6/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 14/20
This was shared with Strykzone on Facebook Chat. Pours a dark brown almost black with a good sized tan head. Moderate lacing. Nose of burnt malt with a mix of grassy and citrus hops. Medium in body. Smooth lager style mouth feel. Flavor is chocolate, and some hops shows in the taste as well. The finish is an earthy burnt bitterness with residual citrus. Decent. More hops would help.

3.3 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 6/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 13/20
Poured from bottle. Nice molasses and burnt malt aroma. Solid black with a bit of head. I taste chocolate and roasted malt with some lager hops. Low carbonation makes this ridiculously easy to drink. Good, but could use flavor and body.

3.7 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 16/20
6 pack of cans best before August 24, 2014. Pours a nice deep, dark hue. Pitch black is obviously an exaggeration, but it’s well within style. This smells like it’s gonna be a solid shwarzbier. It’s roasty, a little nutty with mild hints at toffee and latte and a nice crispness. The mouthfeel is lighter, but Baba is still complex and flavorful. Uinta has a knack for making these 4% abv beers really satisfying. The flavor is nutty, with hints at cacao, instant coffee, wafers, toffee and an earthy, but milky finish. I poured this guy into a goblet for a better tasting experience, but I totally want to put a coozie on one of these bad boys and sip it on a warm spring day. Very drinkable, very clean. The only shortcoming here at all is that after a full glass, it does seem a little waterier than a top notch black lager. Still, they’ve done a stand up job with this to comply with the crazy Utah laws.

3.5 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 14/20
(Bottle) Almost black colour with hints of ruby when seen through light. Frothy beige head. Malty, roasted nose with notes of coffee, black rye bread, liquorice, dark chocolate and hints of raisins. Malty, roasted taste with coffee, dark chocolate, black rye bread, liquorice, hints of burnt sugar and a touch of orange peel in the finish. Balanced bitterness. Medium body, with a touch of sweetness, but mainly dry. Tasty, well balanced and highly drinkable. Nice one.
