Nearly opaque black pour with a medium tan head that diminishes gradually to an outer ring. Partial rings of lacing on the glass. Aroma of roasted malt and coffee. Light-bodied with flavors of burnt malt, mild coffee and a bit of dark chocolate. The finish is sweet with a short malty aftertaste. Decent overall.

3.5 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 14/20
Pours a deep, dark hazelnut with a hint of ruby and a medium thick tan head with little lacing. Aromas are roastier than I had expected. Wet hay, some minor basement with noticeable coffee notes as well. Flavor is medium bitter mostly dry with that clean lager finish and lingering roasted coffee. Mouthfeel is med- with medium carbonation and a lively mouthfeel.

Very dark, deep brown black. Mild smell. More brown stout than lager. Nice long flavor. Good.

12 ounce bottle. Black color. Light in body. But slight chocolate flavor and slight roast could fool someone in a blind taste test that this is a lager. Very drinkable.

3.4 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 6/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 14/20
12 oz. can. Appearance: very large dark tan head that lasts for days, dark brown to black color, clear appearing, Aroma: chocolate, roasty, nuts, caramel, bread, floral, herbs. Palate: medium full body, oily texture, soft carbonation, short, slightly bitter finish. Taste: Sweet and earthy on front, like home-made dark chocolate, umami rich middle, with a light bitter finish. Overall, I really like this, probably one of the most drinkable (as far as beer after beer goes) dark beers I have had.

Nice light black, good even out of the can, smoky with a light hoppy finish. Would drink again.

Can. I wouldn’t say pitch black, but it is a lovely brown-black with garnet highlights and a tan, lacy head that just will not quit. Nose is pecans, soy, eucalyptus, and black tea. Coffee and beef consomme on the tongue; very rich and satisfying, with a clean finish that seems a little truncated. Good, though.

3.3 AROMA 6/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 13/20
Poured from a bottle. Nearly black with redish brown edges and a tan head. Aroma is roasted malt and earth. Taste is roasted malt along with coffe and chocolate notes; also, slightly smokey. Taste is somewhat sweet followed by a mild bitterness. The body is light, but the carbonation is crisp and bright. A good option for people that need organic.

3.2 AROMA 5/10 APPEARANCE 5/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 12/20
From the 12 fl. oz. bottle. It pours ruby red to dark brown and nearly black. A long lasting off white head. The aroma is very odd and rather unexciting. It has some dark malts yes but there is this melted butter overtone that takes the over the entire nose. I couldn’t shake it. The body is medium. The taste makes a bit of a comeback as that nauseating butter is not evident but there is a pleasant dark slightly bitter character.
