Whole Foods, P st, DC sixer ($10): Pours a black color with a brownish head. Chocolate and roasted malts aroma. Taste has a really nice profile. Chocolate and roasted malts in right parts. My only complaint is that this beer is a little thin. All in all, this is a good beer.

Bottle. Head is initially average sized, frothy, light brown, mostly diminishing. Body is dark brown to black. Aroma is moderately malty (roasted grain, chocolate, coffee, husks), trace hops (herbs), with a note of minerals. Flavor is moderately sweet, lightly acidic, lightly bitter. Finish is lightly sweet, lightly acidic, moderately bitter, slightly husky. Light to medium body, watery/velvety texture, lively carbonation. Doggone it, if only the malt extraction was cleaner, this would be brilliant. Itís still an enjoyable quaffer in a style that is all too often ignored completely. Nice coffee note, nice mouthfeel considering its size, and nicely balanced. If not for the somewhat husky malt character, this could be a repeat purchase for me...easily the best thing Iíve ever had from Uinta.

12 oz bottle. Pours a deep brown with a small light beige froth. Aroma is lightly roasty, lots of bitter cocoa, a touch of cola and just a little char character. Flavor starts with some roast and a cocoa, again a bit of cola, and coffee before a quick bitter old coffee note. Medium body and a sharp carbonation. Decent schwartz

12oz bottle. Dark reddish-brown in color, translucent, with a small bit of tan foam. Very nice roasty aroma with nuttiness and milk chocolate. The flavor is good if a bit weak on the finish. Nuts, chocolate, coffee, and drying roast. Medium-light in body with average carbonation. Very nice beer for the low ABV. Itís Utah, I understand.

Bottle from Pacific Liquor: Nose is mild with only a minor aroma of lightly roasted malts and a hint of coffee beans. The flavor was just as subtle as the aroma except for a roasty and sweet taste of decaf coffee flavor that has had too much sugar added. Appearance was a dark brown opaque liquid with a tiny fluffy head on top.

Draft. Small tan head, cola-black body. Aroma is moderately sweet, bittersweet chocolate, roast, caramel, light earthy. Taste is moderately sweet, milk chocolate, roast, some herb/spicy, light earthy/grapefruit. Light-medium body, light stickiness.

Bottle poured a clear dark reddish brown with a lasting creamy tan head. Aromas of roastiness, bakers cocoa and coffee. Palate was light bodied and crisp. Flavors of roastiness, light bakers cocoa and light coffee with a crisp roasty finish.

Bottle from Whole Foods in Folsom, CA. Pours dark brown/black with a fizzy tan head. Aroma of smooth lightly burnt malt with a hint of grassy hop. Flavor is pretty chocolate, and thereís certainly hop, but it is hard to pin down, and the burnt malt bitter competes. In the finish itís almost like there had been resin. Very tasty beer.

Bottle thanks to funkybrewster. Pours a rich syrupy cola color. Slightly nutty aroma, fatty toasted nuts. Flavor follows but is a bit sweet and syrupy, lots of nuttiness, pretty good but has a cola-like one-note thing going on, some light chocolate. Really drinkable though at 4%, and tasty.

12oz bottle @GABF-pours dark brown with red tint and a light brown head. Aroma is medium/dark malt-roasty/molasses. Taste is quick spice hops then fades to medium/dark malt-roasty/molasses. Towards medium body.
