Picked this up recently for $1.50 for a 120z bottle. Dark black with brown accents at the edges. Smells like burnt toast but in a good way as well as a honeyed cereal that I can’t quite put my finger on, good smell. Taste is more like a standard black lager, a tiny bit of roasty malt, not nearly as good as the smell. Serving type: bottle Reviewed on: 10-22-2011 04:29:21

i like how this is organic, more brews should be. A nice darker larger, has a nice heavy dark malt flavor a bit or roast/smoke. Pretty decent body, with a crisp finish.

Bottled. A deep red beer with a light tan head. The aroma has notes of malt and caramel. The flavor is sweet with notes of caramel and malt, leading to a bitter finish.

UPDATED: JAN 3, 2013 Pours a dark brown with a monster five finger tan head that takes forever to die down. Aroma is subtle coffee and roasted malts. Taste is similar to a porter, but lighter mouthfeel. Good slightly hoppy/sweet malt finish. This is a good brew, but not especialy noteworthy.

12oz bottle, shared. Best by 6/21/13. Clear dark brown color. Almost black. One-finger khaki-colored head. Leaves good row of lace. Toasted malt, light chocolate, robust flavor. Light / medium body, good smooth carbonation, dry finish. Nice bitter sweet taste. Solid black lager, I’d say. Would recommend to those looking for this style.

355ml bottle. Pours a dark brown, with a beige head. Malty, roasted aroma, faint smoke, caramel, chocolate, coffee, hops, yeast, earth, and a tiny phenolic touch. Dry, medium body and bitterness, balanced CO2. Roasted, spicy taste, malt, caramel, hops, spruce, earth, licorice, tar, faint smoke. Surprisingly light, but very drinkable. (2013-01-17)

12 oz bottle, Whole Foods Columbus. Translucent black; one-finger light tan head dissipates into a medium ring. Aroma malt, nutty, a little sour, toasty, light roast and very light smoke. Flavor malty, toasty, dry finish. Medium body, lighter carbonation but pretty smooth in that department. Not my style but good for what it is.

Pours pretty much black with a thumb of frothy light tan head. Aroma of roasted malt, citrus, leather and maybe just a hint of soy. Taste is nicely burnt with light bitterness at first before it develops into a more complex balance between sweet bread and bitter roasted malt. Body is a touch too light for the taste but that’s expected of the style.
