Robust and smooth, this full-flavored lager is exceptionably drinkable and pitch black in color.

From the bottle this pours pitch black, crimson edged and with a good inch of light tan foam which fades pretty quickly. The aroma is a touch of spicy, chocolately, pale roasty goodness. Tastewise, chocolate comes to the fore, followed swiftly by a toasty nuttiness, almost like nutella spread on whole wheat toast. Nice smooth finish and medium bodied, lovely.

So, i avoided this one like the plague for a while just because of the word "lager"..Until last night..finally grabbed one in a mixed sixer..very glad i did. Very nice roasted malt character especially for a 4% beer..nice hops in the background..no lager here. All in all i could drink this regularly. Nice offering!

Bottle. Dark chocolate, coffee and a little smoke on the back end. Grains and a slight herbal bitterness. This one is good. Very good.

Dark roasted and burnt malt flavors. Reminiscent of Bassets liquorice. Very soft and supple schwarzbier.

Uinta Baba Black Lager is drinkable and sessionable. Moderate roasted aroma coming from a dark pour and a frothy head. Taste is mild chocolate and coffee notes mixed with malt with a clean finish. Baba Black has the richness of dark beers but the lightness and drinkability of a lager. Real nice!

Black with a thick tan head. Aroma is roasted malt with a touch of smoke. Flavor is malty with a pleasant bitterness and decent smoke flavor in the finish. Wife: 3.8

12oz bottle pours deep darkness with mahogany edges and lasting mocha head. The aroma offers up a good load of dark roasted malts as well as a bit of burnt malts and highly toasted wheat bread. The taste is full of dark roasted malts, some mild spicy rye notes and then picking up a modest level of dry malt astringency. Very nice full flavored brew.

Requisite darkness applies along with an average size head and good lacing. Aroma is roasted malts, dark chocolate and chicory. Flavor is true to the spirit of a schwarzbier, with modest sweetness, some smoke, a strong roasted malt backbone and hops that are more spicy than citrusy. Medium bodied, decently carbonated mouthfeel with a lingering finish.

Pour is black with some dark ruby highlights around the edges - thin ring of tan foam - complex nose of hazelnut, cream, espresso, lightly charred maltiness, a hint of smoke - creamy, medium to light body - approach is dry, with moderate mineral character and a light bitterness - some roast settles into the palate after that, along with light touches of bittersweet chocolate - lightly bitter hops arrive late, along with some black malt bitterness - finish is of cocoa, espresso, light smoke, a touch of dry mineral - pretty awesome beer - if you can’t make a session beer like this, then quit the game, motherfucker - quit the game.
