Hey now, this is a pretty good schwarzbier. I loved the smooth, robust flavor, and the clean finish. A very beautiful, black as night colored pour. Loved the label, bottle, and design all together as well. Uinta always has great design.

12 oz bottle from Country Club Liquors. Nose is chocolate, roast, and a hint of vanilla caramel. Black with a medium, lightly lacing, beige head. Flavor is roast with coffee, some nuttiness, and a little coffee and bitter. Awesome for a 4% lager.

I’ve seen this on the shelves here for quite awhile now, and finally picked some up last week. 12oz bottle poured into a stemmed lager glass.
Pours a deep black, like a stout. Small beige head on top that dissipates very quickly. Aroma of hot chocolate, dry husky grains, graham crackers. Easy subtle feel. Though this beer looks heavy, it is very light on the palate. Almost too easy to drink this one.
Heavy-hitting roasted chocolate flavors present. Sweet mellow flavors meld with a dry cracker finish. Cereal grains on the back end. This little beer packs on the flavor. This is organic too? Nice. A nice little beer here. This is a style that is underrated in my mind, and one I need to revisit more and more. Cool label art to boot.

This is a very nice black lager especially for folks not ready for Porters and Stouts. Rich mahogany color, malty sweetness but with good balance with a mild coffee bitterness.

can - rich dark brown pour with reddish highlights, beige head & great lacing. Lovely nose. Rich cereal grains, malts and a hint of ivory soap. Sharply front with strong carbonation. Crisp grainy with a hint of caramel and chocolate. Bright, lively body, with a medium mouthfeel. Finishes with some lingering bitterness. A very tasty beer that’s spot on for the style.

Draft at the Telluride Blues and Brews Festival. Big java aroma on this aptly named black beer. Airy tan head with sweet coffee flavors. Very good schwarz.

12oz bottle, short, unique shape of a compass around the neck of the bottle. Very black color, jet black even. Frothy, light tan colored foam. Aroma of roasted grains, nice coffee like scent. Mild roast flavor, some burnt character. Well balanced, finishes with a lingering burnt sugar flavor on the palate.

12 ounce bottle - $1.79 at Total Wine & More in Kennesaw, Georgia.
Bottled on: 03/13/12. Cute-lookin’ bottle, but I’m not here for bottles, and I’m not particularly concerned about it being organic, either. I do, however, appreciate the low ABV.
Appearance: Pours out a black body capped by a mocha-toned head depositing a few stray bits of lace here and there on the descent.
Smell: Roasty, mainly, but also some burnt dark bread crammed in the background. Also notes of chocolate shavings, lemon zest, and licorice with a vague whiff of peppery spice.
Taste: Roasted malts with a gulp of coffee and a mild inclusion of sweetish chocolate and black licorice. One drop of homemade lemonade. Leafy, faintly citrusy hops with sufficient balancing bitterness. Low hint of something spicy. Dry with a bit of a carbonic acid bite on the finish.
Mouthfeel: Medium-bodied. Medium-plus carbonation, fairly crisp.
Overall: It is what it is and what it is works for me.

Pours brown with a faint head. Smells of roasted coffee bean. Medium nectar with ample carbonation. Malty with a defined roast component. Quite dry with a lasting finish.
