A n opaque black body with a tan head, which had good retention and nice lace. Aroma had a nice roasted malt presence upfront. There was notes of smoke and even the presence of leather. Mildly reminiscent of a imperial stout. Flavor was similar. Mouth feel was on the light side, but i think that is the trust behind this style. Slightly dry in the finish.

From a bottle at Carmine's. Poured a blackish brown and made a nice light brown head with good lacing. Smells of cocoa and malt and coffee. Tastes of chocolate and malt and dark fruits. More like a porter than a black lager. Flavored were much more complex than I would have expected from a lager. ---Rated via Beer Buddy for iPhone

May 25, 2015 - dark brown pour with nice amount of head and lacing. Aroma and taste of grain, hops, chocolate and coffee. Doesn’t happen often, but taste was better than aroma.

6 oz pour from chilled bottle into shaker pint. Black and opaque with a moderate white head. Light bodied for a dark beer. A bit watery and fairly dry. Cereal, some toffee, a little smoke. Not bad, but not my thing. Much more taste than the abv would have suggested though.

(Bottle) Black with ruby hints and good off-white head. Subtle, slightly smokey aroma. Smooth with excellent carbonation both silky and bright. Great taste. A nice balance of rich dark flavours which are not laid on too heavily making it easy to drink whilst tasty. There’s some dark treacle, a little smokiness and some gentle bitterness in finish. Very pleasant. Easy drinking and interesting.

Roasty chocolatey bready malt Pours black with red hues and big fluffy lasting light brown head Roasty malts, chocolate, light coffee. Earthy hops Medium light bodied, with medium high CO2, roasty finish. Great black lager. Just the right amount of roasty malts. A tad bitter, but still well balanced. ---Rated via Beer Buddy for iPhone

Delicious, refreshing, and a nice kick in the ass to boot. Lived this beer from the first taste camping in Zion NP. ---Rated via Beer Buddy for iPhone

Can at Porch Nite shared with Brisben. Pours dark brown with a thin foamy off white head. Aroma is roasty. Flavor follows with some readiness. Slight chocolate. Thin bodied and dry. Finishes clean. Nice beer.

I’m liking this one more and more each time. Clearly the best of a Uinta variety pack (over the Hazel amber and the Wyld Extra Pale Ale). Smooth like a lager but fuller bodied. Aroma is moderate but flavor is pronounced; I get some roasted malts, licorice, some coffee.

Bottle from Candia Convenience Store. Aroma is roasted malts, hints of chocolate--is this a porter? Appearance is dark, dark, brown--almost black, with tiny creamy white head with almost no retention. Taste is rich, medium malty sweetness with very mildly bitter end. Palate is medium bodied with lively carbonation over the full tongue with short finish. Overall, a black lager that brushes up against the Porter category. Not complex but above average in all categories. Good beer.
