COMMERCIAL DESCRIPTION
The pilsner style beer (also known as pilsener or simply pils) originated in the scenic city of Plzen, Czechoslovakia in the early 1800’s. Pilsners are lager beers, meaning they are brewed with bottom fermenting yeast, and then aged or lagered in cold conditioning tanks. Since their introduction, pilsners have become the most popular style of beer in the world. At Uinta, we have replicated a true old world pilsner by using the finest imported Saaz hops and then aging this golden lager for nearly a month. The aging process creates a smooth, mellow flavor that gives it a remarkable drinkability. Enjoy the delicate balance between the flowery hops and the assertive malt flavors. Where did the name come from? Uinta embraced the concept of renewable energy in 2001 by committing to 100% wind powered energy. The name Blue Sky Pilsner stems from that commitment.

Looks well enough, but that burnt-hair nose is nothing to show off. Tastes thin and bland, with a Euro-hop finish that can’t keep pace with the overabundant carbonation. Still waiting to be shown that good beer can originate from Utah. (10/08)

I didn’t like this beer at first but through the six pack it grew on me. It has a unique taste that is very golden but somewhat mettallic. Mediocre at best.

Bottle, shared by my buddy James. Pours golden yellow with a white head. Light pale malty aroma with some hoppy notes. The flavor is pale malty and grainy with some flowery hoppy notes. Decent.

12oz bottle. Poured a medium golden color with a smaller sized white head. Aromas of grains, some wheat. Tastes of the same. Thinner body.

Bottle at Peculier Pub. Nothing special here. Pours a mostly clear yellow with a thin, fizzy white head. Light aroma of crisp malts, straw and light hops. Flavor has faint sweetness, plenty of grass and earth and light bitters. Light to medium in body with bubbly carbonation. It struck me as a bit odd. Drinkable but nothing more than that.

I have never heard of this brewing company...so I picked up this bottle at Stateline in Elkton,MD. A- Body is a crystal clear pale yellow that pours with a tiny foamy white head. Head fades quickly to a thin collar which retains well. No lacing is left behind in the glass and tiny bubbles can be seen steadily rising to the top. S-Nose is faint and more sweet than hoppy with pale malt shining through and a hint of floral hops added as an afterthought. T-Sweet pale malt upfront that has a cornlike flavor and a touch of soft hops added to the mix. Finish is very clean. P-Medium carbonation and a lightweight drinkable body. Not too thin or watery. O- Is this the best pilsner ever? No. It is, however, unoffensive and very drinkable. I was somewhat surprised that a beer with such a mild character would have a nice mouthfeel...but it does. This would be a good transition beer for the BMC folk. Serving type: bottle Reviewed on: 09-03-2008 22:12:04
