No bristlecones were harmed in the production of this award winning beer. Deep chocolate brown and an amber head, Bristlecone Brown Ale is a seasonal beer and available for a short time. We chose the name as a tribute to the regal Great Basin Bristlecone pine. Among these stately survivors is the 4,765 year-old Methuselah, the oldest living inhabitant of North America. Its exact location is kept secret as an older relative nicknamed “Prometheus” was unfortunately cut down in 1964. This particular long-living species is typically found in the higher elevations of Nevada, California and Utah’s Wasatch Range. Due to cold temperatures, high winds, and dry soils, these pines grow very slowly.

Yellow Brown pour dense tan head.aroma of soil, chickory, roasts. Tastes nutty, slight tart, woody, some black pepper. Could use less carb, acidity and more creaminess.

12 oz bottle with a BB date of 30 Jan. 2015. Pours clear, orange-brown with a creamy, tan head that has very good retention. The flavor is a tad earthy. Good, near equal, sweet-bitter balance. Hints of toffee. Feel: medium body with (overly?) prickly carbonation.

On tap poured a clear brown hue w/ a small beige head diminishing to a ring and minor lacing. Mild to moderate nutty aroma. Initial flavor is light sweet w/ a moderate bitter of short duration. Tastes are lightly toasted white bread, roasted malt, and almond skins. Medium bodied, lively carbonation and a dry finish. ---Rated via Beer Buddy for iPhone

Brown pour, offwhite head. Aroma is toasty, with light floral hopoy notes. Flavor is roasty, toasty, with bitter floral hop notes. A little sharp, a little thin. Not very interesting.

"Pretty nice amber red lager with lots of little subtleties. Vanilla, Carmel, toasted malt and a nice crisp hop bite. Nice session brew that is anything but boring..."

Clear copper appearance with a large tan head and good lacing. Aroma of mildly roasted caramel malts dotted with coffee. Sweet malt flavor mixes in notes of toffee, dark bread and nuts. Hops are evident but the strength of the aroma and taste are not duplicated in the finish. Medium bodied, nicely carbonated mouthfeel

Pours a good looking dark brown color with a khaki head. Aromas and flavors of caramel, malt, nuts and a little hint of chocolate. Medium bodied. Everything a brown ale should be.

A heady and drinkable brown with a great mouthfeel and clean finish. Almost black opaque pour and abundant toffee head. Light on the aromatics (ie malt heavier). Great roasted character without being too sweet, just wants for a bit of unique character to stand out from the other decent browns. ---Rated via Beer Buddy for iPhone
