Bomber (from backlog). Nice blush wine color with big effervescence. Taste of mild cherries and a lot of funk. A bit vinegary as well.

750 ml corked and caged bottle poured a clear garnet with a lasting creamy ivory head. Aromas of bread, cherry skins, light earthiness and light spice. Palate was light bodied and crisp with a dry lightly tart finish. Flavors of bread, cherry, light cookie and a hint of spice with a crisp dry lightly tart lingering cherry finish.

3.5 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 2/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 15/20
Sour pickle juice aroma thatís not quite the level of a lambic, with cherry and toasty toffee. Hazy orange-copper under a pop fizz. Pale ale caramel flavour hides behind sour, fizzy cherry. Very refreshing and with a clean finish. Very high carbonation, light body, very clean.

3.3 AROMA 6/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 6/10 PALATE 5/5 OVERALL 12/20
Bottled March 20, 2012.
Appearance: On the pour a lively foamy head appears that has the texture and lasting power of soda appears. Once the head settles down it leaves a foamy ring with a light coating. The body is colored of a blush wine with perfect clarity and hints of carbonation in the body.
Aroma: The aroma only has a hint of sour to it along with a cherry aroma thatís subdued.
Taste: The flavor is very mild on the intro with a light cherry flavor, the flavor progresses to a light tart by the finish with cherries being the primary flavor. This is reminiscent of a cherry spritzer, albeit a bit more tart.
Palate: Light and fizzy, very lively.
Overall: Iím glad this isnít hugely sour as Iím still working my way into the flavors of them, but this doesnít do much for me. Itís lightly tart, but very easy to drink. This would make a nice sparkling blush substitute.

3.1 AROMA 6/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 5/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 14/20
750 ml bottle
Thanks to a previous Santa for this bottle which I shared with tastybeer over the holidays. It was not a great beer but serves as a reference for how not to make a sour. On the other hand if you are looking for an alcoholic alternative to Cherry 7UP this is your ticket.
Aroma / Appearance - The rosy red base absorbs most ambient light. Cherry cough drops are dry and sweet yet not pleasing at all. This looks appealing but smells like foolís gold.
Flavor / Palate - Tasting much like it smells this is more Cherry 7UP than fruity sour. Lacking even the faintest hint of tartness it tickles the palate before fading quickly. If youíve got to tick more sours give it a try. Otherwise look for anything better.

3.5 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 8/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 14/20
750ml Bottle. The pour was a clear cranberry orange with a small (less than 1 finger) light pink fizzy head that quickly diminished, down to just a small collar and had fair runny lacing.
The aroma was of sour cherries right off the bat with a mild grain malt and a musty Brett yeast and possessed a light fruity ester and a mild bubblegum scent.
The taste was sweetly tart with a strong note of cherries early on, progressing with a bold funky yeast presence and a sour cherry finish. The flavor lasted an average time after the swallow, with the yeasty sour cherry taste fading slowly off the taste buds.
Mouthfeel was light in body and dry in texture with a fizzy champagne-like carbonation.
Overall this was a tasty and refreshing brew with a very powerful fruit presence and a decent sweet-sour ending...

3.1 AROMA 5/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 6/10 PALATE 2/5 OVERALL 15/20
Clear amber with pink/ purple hues and quickly dissipating off-white, pinkish foam, leaves no lacing. Aroma of cherries and yeasty dough. The flavor is sour cherries with a bit of barnyard funk and some crackling grain, dull bitterness in the finish. Itís highly effervescent with thin-medium body; tart aftertaste. Itís sort of perfume-y and doesnít lack sweetness, but still a nice take on a sour ale.

2.5 AROMA 6/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 5/10 PALATE 2/5 OVERALL 9/20
Bottle: Glowing peach/amber colored pour with a short lived white head. Nose is malty with very light fruit and hints of oak. Tastes malty, earthy, sort of a stale tartness, cherries, and more stale malt. Overall the odd stale notes and lingering malt are a turn-off. Bummer
