3.4 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 13/20
Poured from a 750ml bottle with a great label. The aroma is spicy rye, and generic hop, grassy, floral, pungent. The flavor is doughy, spicy, viscous rye, with resinous hops, some floral character as well, metallic. There is a huge carbonic bite from the Co2, it burns my tongue as I drink it. Not a bad beer, there are flavors in it that I do not care for.

Pours a clear, robust golden color with a white head. Sweet citrus and candied lemon nose. Huge malt with enough hop character to nearly balance it. Thicker, oily mouthfeel. Hefty, sweet malt. Plenty vibrancy in the hop character all the way to the bitter, lasting finish.

750 c&c from The Davis Beer Shoppe. Pours clear copper with a 3 finger yellowish head that attempts ring lacing. Aromas of rye spice and pine. Med + body. Flavor seems to have a lot of rye and earthy hop. Strong flavors. Fairly bitter. Very nice. The rye and malt and ABV support a lot of hop very well. Getting significant hop burn. Excellent ale.

Drank as a draft beer while eating sausages. Beautiful brown colour and a thin head. The hops are well balanced by the sweetness of the rye. A really good beer.

Picked up last night at the COOP for a pretty reasonable $7.75ish... Poured into my HotD goblet and it produces a nice 1" white head that dies back sorta slowly... decent spots of lacing are left behind atop nice clear light copper brew.
Nose is more malt dominated than many modern DIPA’s... but the rye is the big player in the grains for sure. The hops are still more than present and are fruity with light melon and a bigger tangerine/grapefruit zest.
Flavor shows all the elements as the nose, but there seems to be a disconnect with the hop bitterness... I assume the brewers did this on purpose to not takeaway anything from the rye malt... but the bitter bite is definitely not really there... instead a nice voluptuous fruity hoppiness comes out mid palate to the finish.
The rye lends to a pretty heavy body and is a bit slippery... carbonation is a bit light IMHO.. but still nice.
Across the board, no real complaints... I will buy again as long as I can get it cold and fresh.
