COMMERCIAL DESCRIPTION
Launch into the exquisite flavors of bourbon with splashes of vanilla. Watch for currents of dark chocolate and dried fruit. Generous amounts of hops and malts make for a smooth journey from start to finish. Decadent desserts and aged cheeses make superb companions.

Bottle, 75cl. Deep reddish with a creamy tan head. Musky aromas of dried fruits, caramel, brown sugar, alcohol, light barnyard yeast. Full bodied, moderate carbonation. Texture is oily. Medium sweet, medium to heavy bitter. Rich roasted and dried fruit flavors into a complex, harsh fruity and bourbon finish.

Bottle, 750ml. A dark reddish beer with a small white head. Aroma is of drid fruits, firewood, red apples and alcohol. Taste is moderately bitter and medium sweet with faint carbonation. Medium bodied, oily and with a nice aftertaste of dried fruits. Somewhat heavy finish of alcohol.

This is review of 12/2013 vintage Pours a dark mahogany body, head is 1/4th of an inch and tan. Head retention and lacing are pretty good for an 11 percent barleywine. Smell is of tons of roasted malts, biscuit, spent grain, and slight oak. Alcohol, especially bourbon, isnt really detected. Hops arent there either, this is a malt bomb. Taste is of rich toffee, caramel malt, slightly burnt biscuits, and charred oak. Alcohol is well hidden but I also dont get a ton of bourbon unfortunately. Mouthfeel is full bodied, rich, and nicely carbonated. Head stayed present for a good while, which is impressive for such a big beer. Overall this was a solid barelywine, but i think I prefer their anniversary barleywine more. Maybe being cellared for 2 and a half years diminished some of the nuanced flavors that I was expecting from this beer. Not to mention I missed the bourbon completely. Still a solid beer, will have to try one fresher.

Sweet, tea-like aroma. Tannic, cherries, leafy, vaporous alcohol. Clear, polished bronze. Lively fruitiness, boozy, woody notes, candied tones without being too sweet. Body is not too dense. A bit too raw and unbalanced. On tap, Brass Tap Midtown Tallahassee.

Wonderful warming nose, molasses, hints of cherry, raisins, and licorice. Nice balance of alcoholic warmth, sweetness and bitterness. Medium body, oily and slick, but without any cloying sweetness. Pleasant bitter finish. A wonderful shippable barley wine

750ml corked and caged bottle from Bottle and Cans in Chicago, with a bottle date of 10/11/13. Shared with bananabi11. At cellar temperature. Reddish brown pour. Beige head. Aroma has fruits, nuts, caramel, light wood raisin . Berry/caramel heavy. Taste is of sweet caramel, berries, other fruits, some wood alcohol. Licorice. Raisin. Maybe some barrel. Medium to full bodied. Lowly carbonated, the blend is solid. Definite alcohol. Finishes tangy sweet. Not sure if the aging was a positive or not. Solid taste but not great. 14.4

Pours a deep amber color, with a two finger off white head that had some staying power. Aromas of hops, sweet malts, and some more hops. Flavor isn’t as sweet as I was led to believe. You can taste the alcohol from the get go, what follows is a nice mellow caramel/brown sugar (I Guess) sweetness that finishes with a nice bitter hop.

Pours dark brown to black with light beige wisp and ring. Aroma is sweet, sweet bourbon, raisins and a little black currant. Taste is mainly sweet bourbon, touch of smoke, lightly bitter from the hops. This is bottled in 2013 so a lot of the hops have fallen off but still a lot of bite from the alcohol. Excellent beer.
