3.8 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 16/20
Pours a dark ruby-brown in a snifter with two fingers of foamy off white head.
Aroma of bourbon, vanilla, with a faint hop undertone.
Tastes of bourbon, chocolate, vanilla and dark fruits, a mild hop bitterness finishes out the taste. Basically like the description says.
I really enjoyed this beer. I donít drink Barleywines super often, so Iím not super familiar with the style but I approve of this one.

3.2 AROMA 6/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 6/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 13/20
Bomber bottle. Aroma is barley wine with hints of booze and wood. Appearance is a dark brown with a creamy, tan head. Taste is like a barley wine at first, but sweet and boozy towards the end. Palate is dry with a woody after taste. Overall, and underwhelming beer. I love barley wines and love bourbon barreled brews, but this one did not quite mesh well enough for me. I wonder if it would have been better if it stayed in the bourbon barrels longer, or had more hops to off put so much sweetness... The world may never know.

3.5 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 6/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 14/20
Bottle thanks to BoostIPA. Nose of bourbon and some toffee sticky sweetness. Medium light brown head. Significant alcohol warming in the chest. This is high boost. Could be a bit more something better.

Bottle share thanks to Homo321. Pours a thick dark, brownish color with tan head that barely missed my pants, homer is drunk at 10am. Caramel, sweet malt, booze, maybe a mild diacetyl character. Boozy malty sweet caramel toasty flavor.

3.7 AROMA 8/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 6/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 16/20
750ml corked and caged bottle served in a snifter
Bottled on: 06/22/12
A - Pours dark mahogany with 2 fingers of whipped mocha head. The sinks into a nice collar with a whispy cap. Lacing is sticky and speckled.
S - Glorious melted toffee/caramel on top of copious amounts of toasted barley. Wood vanilla, bourbon, rich and sweet, dates, raisins. Sweet whiskey alcohol comes out when allowed to warm. As soon as I popped the cork hops jumped right out but then faded after the pour.
T - Spicy bitterness upfront, dry wood comes in strong, heavily toasted barley, toffee, caramel, pine hops, spicy, charred raisins, vanilla, ginger, pine hops continue to build, melding with the alcohol for a spicy dry finish.
M - Full bodied, chewy, low to medium carbonation, dry astringent finish.
Amazing aroma. I could smell this beer all day. This beer is almost 1.5 years old and still has quit a bit of hop presence. More in the flavor than the nose. The alcohol is spicy and somewhat mild except for the finish, which is little harsh. Glad I set on this for awhile.

12/24/13. 750mL bottle thanks to cbfobes! Amber red pour with a small tan head, nice lacing. Mild aroma that shows cinnamon, dust, oxidation. Much better flavor, malty, dark fruits, mild barrel, vanilla. Meh.

3.4 AROMA 6/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 2/5 OVERALL 15/20
Bottle. Big boozy with the expwctex barleywine aroma. Big and chewy mouthfeel with the alcohol present on the palate. Good barleywine, perhaps a bit one dimensional and predictable.

3.8 AROMA 6/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 8/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 16/20
On draft. Vague aroma of raisins. Flavor of prunes, vanilla, bourbon before a chocolate finish. Pretty fantastic progression of distinct flavors. Clean finish. Alcohol present (11.1!), but well-masked.

3.8 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 8/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 16/20
Bottle shared with drowland at xmas, pours a clear dark copper with a thick head and lacing in the glass, the aroma was full of sweetness at first with lots of caramel and vanilla with a little bit of the bourbon and booze coming through, the finish has a good kick of bourbon at first with some dark fruit and caramel in the finish, not that bad at all.
