Bomber. Tasted on 5/2/15. Bottle from Total Wine Dallas, TX. Shared with Espo. You definitely got a mild bourbon on the nose but it mellowed out when you tasted it. Very nice beer.

3.7 AROMA 8/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 15/20
Reddish brown. Nose of light bourbon, booze, fruity malt and caramel. Flavor is caramel malt with some fruit and dry oak/bourbon. Sweet. Smooth considering this was bottled just a few months ago. Good, but did note some of the sulfur notes others have described. Not detracting. Good, but not a standout.

3.2 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 5/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 14/20
Bottle. Pours a dark copper with a thin off white/khaki head that fades fast. Aroma has nice roasted burnt caramel subtl bourbon notes and a sweetness. Taste is burnt roasted malt and burnt caramel heavy burnt flavors that make it difficult to identify any bourbon notes. Palate is full and sticky.

4 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 9/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 17/20
August 4th, 2013 - Uinta’s Cockeyed Cooper is a deep, smoldering sweet sipping experience, with tons of brown sugar and vanilla in the nose. A huge head pops up after the pour, but here and there I catch whiffs of rose and fig, and sweet potatoes too, with dough and cinnamon to complete the bakery themed bouquet. The flavor is intense and delicious - sweet balanced with hops and malt all the way to the end, where alcohol suddenly takes over and turns this into much more of a spirit than a beer. Caramelized sweet potato, marshmallow left lingering a little too long over the fire, some honey and vanilla, chocolate, and a touch of graham cracker. It’s not too sweet, but flirts with it, covering a range of delicious flavors from start to finish.

3.8 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 8/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 15/20
750 ml bottle at home (originally tasted when this first came out in Reno). Pours a slightly hazy amber brown color with a small off white head. The aroma and flavor have sweet caramel malts, some dark fruit, hints of chocolate malt, bourbon, vanilla, the hops are very mild, comes off as a smooth drinking English barley wine.

3.6 AROMA 6/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 6/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 17/20
Pours a clear chestnut with a ruby tint and a nicely sustaining tan head with decent lacing. I get a pleasant toasted marshmallow aroma along with some grain and light bourbon. Taste has a moderate caramel sweetness with hints of bourbon and toasted marshmallow along with wood and a medium piney bitterness in the finish. Light/medium bodied with moderate carbonation. Above average with nice flavors and easier to drink than you think it would be. Would probably benefit from some age.

3.6 AROMA 6/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 16/20
2015 bottle. Pours a clear dark mahogany with a nice tan head. Aroma is fairly light with mostly grains and a little alcohol. Taste is grainy and woody with a big herbal bitterness. The bourbon comes in under the grain with only a little sweetness that is quickly cut by the alcohol and bitterness. Medium mouthfeel with a little alcohol burn.

3.5 AROMA 8/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 13/20
22 oz bottle poured into a snifter. Mild caramel and vanilla aromas bloom forth with a dark fruit sweetness. Late wood dominates, and even later, dried fruit and toffee become the dominant aromas. The beer is a sparkling effervescent red brown with lots of sediment. A foamy, soft beige head retains a medium thick ring and a puffy surface, and leaves a decent puffy, messy lace. It’s a high / medium high bitter with a medium high sweet. The beer is thick and gritty with a fizzy carbonation and a full body. Toffee and light bitter citrus flavors are most 5 notable with some pine and light dried fruit. It finishes with resin and a light roast character which turns to sweet, candied fruit, then to bitter, dark chocolate and wood. The aftertaste is bread crust, bitter wax, and citrus peel, which doesn’t linger too long.

3.8 AROMA 8/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 16/20
Pours tawny brown with a tan head. The aroma has brown sugar, toffee, oak, vanilla, caramel and warming alcohol. It has a medium / full rich body with some roughness a good amount of carbonation. The taste starts with raw oakiness and bourbon in addition to the aroma notes. However, the aspects of the aroma are much drier. There is also some dense crusty bread and ultra dry toffee. The finish has lots of raw oak, alcohol heat, spice and barleywine girth of the full taste. Really nice barleywine.
