COMMERCIAL DESCRIPTION
Detour blazes the trail for fresh and bold Double IPAs. Four varieties of hops combine to step up the flavor profile. A hoppy adventure that finishes dry. Big in alcohol and character. Venture to pair with other spirited flavors such as those found in spicy ethnic foods.

GT2 (7897) - Carlsbad, California, USA - JAN 20, 2011
750mL courtesy of Travlr. The pour is a glowing, hazy, light orange to yellow with not much head formation. Maybe rings of white bubbles. Extreme newspaper, cardboard, chalky palate. Around is not really doing too well: your typical stale DIPA though this one is taking top honors with sweat, feet, cheesy hops, rotting strawberries. Taste is just not going to save it from degraded hops, cheese, spicy alcohol, sickly sweetness. This is testament to the growing sentiment that DIPAs should be fresh draft only.

Bottle. 25.4 oz. Split with Vinnie. Pours a dank amber with a thick, lacy, frothy white head. Aroma of pine hops, grapefruit, soap suds, honeysuckle, melon, mango, tangerine, and malt. Fat, full, tight body with a tangy, honeysuckle sweet mouthfeel, Very sticky and juicy in the finish. Awesome double IPA.

Amber pour, white head. Malty as hell, some citrus hops, grapefruit. Flavor is sweet and hoppy, a nice balance. Caramel, resin. Pretty good.

Gummy lush aroma, sticky resin, some shortbread. Clear toffee, sustained white head. Caramel forward, chewy hops, toasted white bread, bit lacking in hops overall.

pineypower (2402) - Pine Barrens, New Jersey, USA - JAN 9, 2011
Pours out a somewhat cloudy orange/copper color with a big off white head. Aroma is of some nice citrus notes, floral hops and light fruit. Taste isn’t as hoppy as the aroma, citrus, some fruits, malty sweetness, honey and some light biscuity notes. Finish has some lingering bitterness and some alcohol, but for 9.5% it is rather well hidden.

Miksu (4830) - Jyväskylä, FINLAND - DEC 31, 2010
Bottled at Stockholm Beer and Whisky Festival 2010. Amber color. Stong pineapple and lemon aroma. Bittersweet flavor with pineapple, lemon and toffee. Tropical fruit aroma and flavor is very strong, like pineapple was actually added to this beer.

Rciesla (5499) - Exit 15W, New Jersey, USA - DEC 28, 2010
Bottle. Pours an orange golden body with an off white head. Sweet and hoppy, citrus and light pine notes. Lighly spicy hoppy sap and pine notes, and a light sweet citrus warming. A bit boozy but it works.

CLevar (377) - Minnesota, USA - DEC 27, 2010
Bottle to glass (from douglass88, thanks a ton). His a nice golden honey pour with some red tones, with medium lacing. Aroma is just ok, but it has some nice floral and fruity hop notes balanced by some Belgian yeast character. Taste is similar, with some wood, with the hop bitterness pretty subdued. Not a ton here. Mouthfeel is nice and silky though. A decent IIPA, but I sure it would have been much better right off the bottling line.

mcberko (5369) - Vancouver, British Columbia, CANADA - DEC 27, 2010
750mL bottle, pours a hazy golden copper with a sizable white head. Aroma of pine, citrus, grapefruit, hops and a sweet caramel malt backing. Flavour matches this aroma profile, with piney hops upfront, grapefruit in the middle and a sweet caramel underpinning. Very well-balanced and nicely made.
