Detour blazes the trail for fresh and bold Double IPAs. Four varieties of hops combine to step up the flavor profile. A hoppy adventure that finishes dry. Big in alcohol and character. Venture to pair with other spirited flavors such as those found in spicy ethnic foods.

Bottle. Pours clear, bright amber with frothy off-white head. Aroma is citrus fruit, floral notes, biscuit and cereal malts, and some tropical fruit notes. Flavor is dry malt base with a hint of caramel quickly followed by sharp hop bitterness, light grapefruit, and light pineapple; lingering hop bitterness through the finish. Medium body and carbonation.

Poured a dark golden orange from a 12-oz bottle with a healthy 2-finger, white head which dissipated quickly to a coating. Lacing was ample and lasting. Nose was pine, citrus and some floral notes. Taste was malty, biscuity with some citrus (pineapple, mango) and caramel. Aftertaste was dominated by resiny, woody bitterness. Carbonation wasn’t intense nor was there any overpowering stickiness. Some alcohol warming present but not overwhelming. I wouldn’t avoid this but won’t go searching either.

Slightly hazy copper with a nice off-white, orange-tinged head. Aroma sweet and orangy, fresh grass, and a veggie note. Taste full, sweet, bitter and slightly metallic. This beer has more mouthfeel than actual flavor. Citrusy/lemony palate.

jbruner (2315) - Athens, Georgia, USA - JUN 19, 2014
Pours a clear golden brown on tap with fluffy white head that leaves good lace. Aroma is big on the resinous citrus and tropical fruit hops, hint of biscuit malt behind it. Taste follows, but more caramel instead pod biscuit and add some floral hoppiness. No real hint of the booze, good carbonation, great balance for the style while still being hop forward.

Pours amber with a thick white head. Aroma is citrus, mango - tropical. Got to be some citra hops in there somewhere. Taste is all of the above with a nice grapefruity - tangerine & bitter finish. Love it!!

Pours dark orange with a medium sized beige head. Smells strongly of citrus and tropical fruits. Taste is sweet fruity with a balanced, complimentary bitterness. Full-bodied with a smooth texture and soft mouth-carbonation, Uinta Detour Double India Pale Ale finishes with a lingering citrus bitterness.

Bottle from Jon Rons Brielle. Label says bottle on Sep. ’11. Just noticed. No wonder it was so dusty. Very good nonetheless. Caramel, sugar, roasted malt, sweet hop, toffee, nuts. Flavor is bitter but overshadowed by the sweet. Full and flavored. Good stuff. Really good.
