Detour blazes the trail for fresh and bold Double IPAs. Four varieties of hops combine to step up the flavor profile. A hoppy adventure that finishes dry. Big in alcohol and character. Venture to pair with other spirited flavors such as those found in spicy ethnic foods.

On tap @ Chuck’s 85th. Pours clear bright reddish copper with very thin white head. Aroma is lightly sweet caramel malt and earthy oaky slightly floral hops. Taste is heavy rich caramel malt with mildly bitter hops on the back; earthy notes of pine and grapefruit jump out. Nice rich flavor overall, a little malt-driven for my tastes.

12 oz bottle, thanks brenn79! Aroma is fantastic for style, with pineapple, mango, cat pee, resin, garlic--very strong and unique, full of character. Pours clear copper with a large long-sustaining cream-colored head; leaves curtains of lace. Taste is nice, but it doesn’t live up to the aroma. Decent, overall.

Pours clear amber with an orange his and decent beige head. Aroma brings dank juicy sweet hops, suggestion of citrus. Flavor is sweet for sure, but balanced with pungent hops, orange and some zest, and and a bit of a dry ending.

Bottle. Pours dark orange with a fingers worth of frothy yellow head. Big pine and citrus nose, decent bitter hop bite. Caramel and earthy malt balances this out nicely but leaves enough lingering bitterness. Medium bodies mouthfeel. Very solid DIPA ---Rated via Beer Buddy for iPhone

Bottle at Franks with Vinny, Ryan, Alan, Barry and Bill. Pours a light amber body with thin white lacing. Aroma is sweet malt and floral hop. Mouthfeel is medium with notes of light citrus fruits, flowers, malt, spice and light bitterness on the palate. Not bad, but kind of bland overall.

Bottle from Tipples, with Best Before date of 5/31/14. Pours a beautiful copper crimson color, perfectly clear, with a nice big and fluffy off white head. Aroma of sweet and bitter grapefruits, lots of caramel malts, lots and grassy hops, very nice. The flavor is a medium bitter, super dank and resinous grapefruit, pine, and caramel combination. Hops keep this somewhat light and airy despite the dank resinous feel, and it goes down pretty easy. Clean finish, slightly dry, with a lasting bitter on the end. Medium low carbonation. Overall I like this one, and am now impressed by Uinta after this and Hop Notch.

Bottle to glass. Pours a darker amber color, clear. Aroma is great, smells fantastic. Good mixture of pine, pine resin and pineapple. Taste is piney hops, pine resin with interesting mix of citrus fruits. Palate is semi oily, medium carbonation. Very good DIPA. Great bitterness. Underrated offering.

surprised I haven’t rated this since I have had the old large format bottles a couple times. This was a new logo 12 oz, poured golden orange with off white head. Notes are pine, dct citrus including grapefruit/orange and some sweet malts. Finished a little weird but nothing off putting. Think it was better before..
