Detour blazes the trail for fresh and bold Double IPAs. Four varieties of hops combine to step up the flavor profile. A hoppy adventure that finishes dry. Big in alcohol and character. Venture to pair with other spirited flavors such as those found in spicy ethnic foods.

First beer sampled on my beer wandering quest in the Deep South of America turns up a little on the underwhelming side of things. Well, its not that it’s a bad beer at all, it’s just the the ratings below mine -- with so many busting into the 4.0’s made me think this would be a beer that exceeded expectations. Nope. Clearly over rated. Despite this disclaimer, lets agree that this is an enjoyable DIPA. The hops are punchy but they lack the juicy resin that I often enjoy in the style. Malts in the front, hops in the back. Love the label, glad I tried it, just find the super high ratings hard to swallow.

on tap @ Party Town / Florence KY --- Clear bright copper-colored dark amber, big frothy beige head, broken sheets of lace. Taste is assertive caramel malt that never gives in to equally strong hops on the swallow. As much as the hop presence grabs attention, so too does the caramel. A bold brew that never betrays its alcohol, except through the full bodied malt and hops. It is good enough to be dangerous on a long night.

Delicious aroma of apricots with a bit of floral tones. Taste is full of fruit with a touch of honey balanced by the bitterness of the hops. ---Rated via Beer Buddy for iPhone

Bottle at home while in Jacksonville. Aroma is fruity, floral dank funky. Medium to full body, medium carbonation. Sticky. Caramel, pine, light apple, orange, grapefruit... Pretty good, nice enough balance though still a bit sweet. Nice. ---Rated via Beer Buddy for iPhone

Bottle. Hazy red pour with a small head that fades to a messy ring. Aroma is fairly dank and very fruity. Oranges, pineapple, flowers, light strawberry, and grass. Taste has a great balance of bitterness and juicy sweetness. Pineapple, blood oranges, light pine, and grass. Some light caramel and toffee malt. Solid DIPA.

Bottle from Mustard Seed Market. Pours a clears orange with a medium head that dies down quickly . Aromas of grainy maltiness with a little honey and some light orange scents. Flavor has a lot of grain and sugar with a decent bitterness and an orange and floral edge to the hops flavor, but it kind of falls a little flat and comes off as a sweet sticky thing that is good, but uninspiring.

Pours hazy , unclear dark amber , with a small yet creamy and rather stable head . Smell is very malty, with a bitter side and a fruity back . Bit sweet . Taste is damn good, just what I seek in an IIPA . Malty forward , creamy mouthfeel , hoppy , bitter, some fruits , but not too much of them . Finish is bitter, with clear malt tones . Lovely beer in every aspect !

A clear amber body sits beneath a tall, creamy-smooth, frothy capped head which falls to reveal thick layers and of eclectic lace all around above a thick ring and large island

Intertwined, medium plus intensity, high density flavors and aromas of big juicy, meaty fruit in the mango and peach realm with creamy dank undertones and accents of citrus and pineapple balanced by a solid doughy sweet roll sweetness on a silky smooth, dense, wonderfully creamy medium-plus body with well restrained carbonation leading to creamy, grassy residuals forming bursts of lasting layers of the previously mentioned components, very enjoyable and balanced, leaning just slightly towards the bitter and rich hop complexities, stoked to have Uinta back in KC

12oz bottle Best By 05/29/15 consumed week of Kansas roll out, served at 45º into Orrefors Pulse Beer glass
