COMMERCIAL DESCRIPTION
Detour blazes the trail for fresh and bold Double IPAs. Four varieties of hops combine to step up the flavor profile. A hoppy adventure that finishes dry. Big in alcohol and character. Venture to pair with other spirited flavors such as those found in spicy ethnic foods.

A very good beer. Strong but sweet tadting malts with mild hops. Appealing appearance with a deep amber to brown coloring and white foamy head. A little light for a Double IPA but an excellent beer nonetheless.

Deep, transparent bronze. Nice, 3" head just off white. Aroma of copper, booze and oak. Mild carbonation with a mild malty sweetness, rolling into bitterness. Not particularly complex. So-so overall. ---Rated via Beer Buddy for iPhone

amber color; nice citrusy hop aroma; great citrusy hop flavor; fairly mild malt base; pretty easy drinking for a beer that weighs in at 9.5% abv

Bottle. Pours cloudy amber with a small briefly lasting white creamy head that leaves good lacing. aroma of lemon, hay and caramel. Light to medium sweet and heavy bitter in a medium body. Fizzy mouthfeel, a bitterness that hits me in the back of my mouth and an bitter finish of average duration. Well balanced.

Pours a nice copper color with a big off white fluffy head. Aromas of passion fruit, grapefruit and bread. Taste is initially very bitter and then finishes bitter. I personally continue to prefer single IPAs, but this is pretty good stuff.

Golden-burgundy red with a thick head. Smell is pretty subdued; grassy, some caramel/malty biscuit, candied fruit. Taste is sweet and a little boozy but mellows out quickly. Very foamy in the mouth. Long-lasting grapefruit-rind finish.

Clear light copper and amber coloured body with a one centimetre tall tan head. Aroma of very rich and dank hops, resin, pineapples, grapefruit, pine and bunches of alcohol. Full-bodied; Strong rich pineapple and pine flavours at first with a lot of malt presence, some white grape flavours and a large sweetness of honey and syrup comes with the alcohol finish. Aftertaste is very nice and balanced with the hops leading the way, but fairly equal parts of malt, alcohol and sweetness, plus with some light complexity of tropical fruits and light herbs make this a very nice finish. Overall, a very good Imperial IPA with a ton of alcohol, but a very easy drinking beer in spite of the strength. Definitely worth trying if you like this style or even barley wines, since this is similar in texture and body to that. I sampled this twelve ounce bottle purchased from Whole Foods in Tyson’s Corner (Falls Church), Virginia on 27-March-2014 for US$2.99 sampled at home in Washington on 11-July-2014 in celebration of quitting my job!

Single bottle from Mansfield. Pours out a clear medium copper color. Sweet aromas and flavors. Lots of toffee and piney-spice. Otherwise balanced and clean drinking and finishing, but not my style of DIPA. Too sweet.

Bottle at home. Pours clear dark amber with a large, creamy off-white head, long retention with excellent lacing. Aroma is heavy fragrant citrus, pine and resin hops with biscuit malt, pear and apple esters. Flavor is heavy hops and bitterness with supporting crisp malt, fruity esters and a sweet finish. Medium to full body and medium carbonation.

12 oz bottle consumed on a sailboat in San Diego harbor. Clear orange amber with a good head. Medium body with a smooth, semi-creamy feel. Very hoppy yet attractive aroma. Sufficient malt load to tame the bitterness of the hops in the finish and aftertaste. O: Adequately bold but drinkable and civilized DIPA
