This ale had an awesome aroma from the bottle, glass and cork! It poured well with a half inch head and clear amber color. But the flavor was a bit more astringent than I was expecting. Overall though a pretty good DIPA.

Bottle. Pours amber orange with a lacy off-white head. Aroma of citrus, pine, fruit and had some floral notes. Flavor was malty and sticky with caramel, pine, citrus, grapefruit zest, tropical fruit and had a dry lingering bitter finish.

12oz can from The Hop Yard in Raleigh. Reddish-orange hue, murky clarity with mostly lasting white fizzy head. Decent lacing. Strong grapefruit and orange hop aromas. Strong citrus grapefruit hop taste up front with more of the same finish. Fizzy on palate, good mouth feel.

Bottle. Aroma of lemons, citrus and melons. Cloudy orange body with minimal head. Flavor has a bitter orange, mango and sweet malt combo. Bitter finish but smooth.

Sweet and grassy aroma, just malty enough. I am picking up some hops in the scent, a preview of things to come. Appearance is of the perfect IPA - light bronze color with an ivory head. The taste is the perfect marriage of honey sweetness and grapefruit hops. Palate is fantastic for the style. Silky smooth and rich, incredibly well made. I loved this DIPA.

pours a deep reddish brown hue with a two finger, light brown, head that fades quickly with very little lacing. Deep caramel and resiny pine on the nose. Caramel, resiny pine, vanilla, deep resiny bitterness on the back end. Thick and sticky with ample carbonation. Decent brew but a little too resiny for me.

Bottle. Not much to add to what has been said. Aroma is citrus with grapefruit most obvious, pine resin, grass, toffee. Good retention with off white lacing. Slightly hazy deep gold color. Nice Big bitter front with fairly aggressive malt that give a nice sweetness. Mid range palate average carbonation. Overall I enjoy this one.

12oz bottle to piny glass. Pours deep copper red. Big creamy head with big lacing. Aroma of big caramel malts, pine, earth and grapefruit. Taste is spice, pepper, caramel malts, pine, citrus peel, and dank. Finish is pine bitter, pepper and boozy heat. Mouthfeel is medium-heavy with good carb. Good DIPA!

UPDATED: JUN 21, 2015 12 oz single bottle from Molly’s Spirits. Deep amber and light hazy appearance with a sticky white head. Aroma of melons, oranges, pine, resinous hops, sweet malts and light caramel/toffee. Similar flavor, big resinous hops, medium to heavy bitterness with a moderate malt sweetness in the middle. Medium to full body with a light syrupy feel and a lingering bitter finish. Not bad by any means, but I rarely find myself enjoying this style these days. Pairing: Hot Buttered Rum - Busted in Utah

Bottle. Pours a dark gold-orange with a high, mixed-grain, cream-colored head. The nose -- which is a little suppressed by the copious foam -- is lime, floral, yeast, and fresh bread. Intensely bitter on the front of the tongue, with white grapefruit and rosemary notes; it’s somewhat hot on the back of the tongue and the throat, and there’s just enough caramel malt to keep it from being out of whack. Very dry finish. Quite intense.
