COMMERCIAL DESCRIPTION
Detour blazes the trail for fresh and bold Double IPAs. Four varieties of hops combine to step up the flavor profile. A hoppy adventure that finishes dry. Big in alcohol and character. Venture to pair with other spirited flavors such as those found in spicy ethnic foods.

RedSox2004 (1200) - Pacific Palisades, California, USA - MAY 17, 2013
Pours a deep reddish brown/mahogany with a thick tan head that dissipated to a solid film and left nice lacing. Pine hops were the strongest aroma with roasted malts clearly present. Big piney hops bitterness with a strong maltiness that lingered in the background. Medium body, light carbonation, smooth creamy mouthfeel, and a lingering caramel sweetness.

Single bottle from Mansfield. Pours out a clear medium copper color. Sweet aromas and flavors. Lots of toffee and piney-spice. Otherwise balanced and clean drinking and finishing, but not my style of DIPA. Too sweet.

Bottle at home. Pours clear dark amber with a large, creamy off-white head, long retention with excellent lacing. Aroma is heavy fragrant citrus, pine and resin hops with biscuit malt, pear and apple esters. Flavor is heavy hops and bitterness with supporting crisp malt, fruity esters and a sweet finish. Medium to full body and medium carbonation.

chinchill (1602) - South Carolina, USA - JUL 4, 2014
12 oz bottle consumed on a sailboat in San Diego harbor. Clear orange amber with a good head. Medium body with a smooth, semi-creamy feel. Very hoppy yet attractive aroma. Sufficient malt load to tame the bitterness of the hops in the finish and aftertaste. O: Adequately bold but drinkable and civilized DIPA

Draft in a tulip - nose is citrus, pine and caramel. Very hoppy. Malty backbone. Yummy in my tummy.

12oz into a stemmed tulip. Pours a rustic amber dark cherry orange brown. Moderate lacing, light head retention that covers the brew, and about a 1cm head that starts off large and frothy. Aroma of grain hops, musky cedar, pine sap, fresh cut grass, and more fresher hops. Taste is super hop smack, a darker hop explosion similar to torpedo. More ale like in that aspect. But the hop presence opens up after bringing floral, pine, grapefruit. Drinks heavy, solid brew, great sticky hop flow, juicy pineapple makes an appearance as well. Dry malt finish. Ones not enough.

Draft sampler light copper. Nose mango and sweet hop, light pine, hint of dank. Tatse nice bitter up front, dank hop and heat from alcohol. Some sweet early palate then high bitter through the finish.

Bottle. Pours a amber color with a one finger head. Very nice tripical citrus hop aroma. Taste is grapefruit, pineapple, some pine. Medium heavy bitterness. Some malt backbone almost creates some balance but not quite. Caramel notes. Pretty darn good.

From a bottle. Pours almost clear bright copper with a bubbly off white head and lots of lacing. Tastes like strong hops, caramel, pine, orange, and light grapefruit and booze. Light body and low carbonation. Smells like musky pine hops, caramel, orange, and sweet alcohol.

Bottle. Pours clear, bright amber with frothy off-white head. Aroma is citrus fruit, floral notes, biscuit and cereal malts, and some tropical fruit notes. Flavor is dry malt base with a hint of caramel quickly followed by sharp hop bitterness, light grapefruit, and light pineapple; lingering hop bitterness through the finish. Medium body and carbonation.

Poured a dark golden orange from a 12-oz bottle with a healthy 2-finger, white head which dissipated quickly to a coating. Lacing was ample and lasting. Nose was pine, citrus and some floral notes. Taste was malty, biscuity with some citrus (pineapple, mango) and caramel. Aftertaste was dominated by resiny, woody bitterness. Carbonation wasn’t intense nor was there any overpowering stickiness. Some alcohol warming present but not overwhelming. I wouldn’t avoid this but won’t go searching either.
