750mL bottle, bottled on 9/7/2011. Poured medium sunset orange with a sticky, yellowy-beige head and very fine sediment in there. The aroma picked up a hefty dose of nutmeg and cinnamon, with warm oak, vanilla, and clove behind.. there seemed to be an underlying sourness too, of the barrel variety rather than infection.. not a lot of pumpkin, but it was still enjoyable. The flavor opened with tart oak and cloves, with toasted pumpkin meat and bready malts following.. vanilla, cloves, nutmeg, and dry oak laced throughout.. finished slightly sour and very spicy, amplified by a splash of bourbon. Medium-bodied with high carbonation on the palate.. tacky on the front and back and slick across the middle, with not-so-good transitions.. I needed more pumpkin and less sharpness.
