750 c&c from The Davis Beer Shoppe. Cork print is "Earth, Wind and Beer". Pours a nice dark brown with a 4 finger creamy darkish tan head. Aroma of very smooth dark malt with very subtle, but strong, darkish fruit. I keep thinking bourbon, then I read the description. So. Bourbon. Full bodied. Flavor is very bourbon/vanilla with lots of dark fruit and something that makes me think of the old, dry gingerbread crackers. Meanwhile the head is collapsing into degenerate, random lacing. It’s not exactly dry, but the various flavors tend to hide the malty sweetness. OMFG. JTDC. My head is expanding exponentially.

Bottle from Systembolaget. Pitch black beer with a great lasting beige/brownish head. Roasted chocolate aroma, earthy, woody, cocoa, vanilla, coffee, tar notes. Roasted chocolate flavor, cocoa powder, cream, vanilla, raisins, bourbon notes, I price, figs, milky notes. Easy drinkable porter but the bourbon is not showing that much.

Draft. Poured a clear dark brown color with an average frothy tan head that mostly lasted and produced excellent lacing. Moderate to heavy roasted coffee, dark chocolate and woody bourbon aroma. Medium to full body with a dry smooth texture and soft carbonation. Medium to heavy roasted malt, bourbon flavor with a medium to heavy bourbon sweet finish of moderate to long duration. This is the good brew.

750 ml corked and caged bottle poured a clear dark reddish brown with a lasting creamy brown head. Aromas of graininess, bakers cocoa, oak, light prune and light anise. Palate was medium bodied and smooth. Flavors of graininess, earthiness, cocoa and light oak with a smooth lingering woody cocoa finish.

Bottle. Pours opaque with a large, frothy tan head, long retention with very good lacing. Aroma is chocolate, roast, and dark caramel malt, dates and figs, earthy hops and fresh oak. Flavor is velvety and silky chocolate, lightly roasted and caramel malt, light hops and bitterness with dark fruity esters, and a clean, sweet finish. Full body and medium carbonation.

Bottle from Bottle Barn, Santa Rosa, 24/06/14. Light black with a big old bubbly tan head. Nose is light roast, hint of plastic, earthy cocoa, mineral notes, dark fruits, toffee, soapy notes. Taste improves somwhat, less plastic and soap, roasted malts, vanilla fudge, dark fruit rinds, caramelised sugars, hint of liqourice, light spice. Medium + body, fine carbonation, cocoa rinse in the close. Decent enough BP.

Bottle @ home picked up at Wilbur’s Fort Collins. Pours a deep brown appearance with a dark brown head. Really a nice bourbon, vanilla oaky, light coconut, sweet dark chocolate aroma. Initially, there’s some fruity notes that are then surpassed by dark chocolate, roasty malts, mild bourbon, light woody flavor with a bit sweet, chocolate finish. The bourbon is tame but nice. One of my favorite offerings from Uinta thus far.

Nearly black in color with a light brown head. Im getting lots of plums, prunes, molasses, chocolate, roast, charred wood, asphalt, raisins, and a touch of smoke. Not bad, not amazing.
