COMMERCIAL DESCRIPTION
Complex and drinkable, Sea Legs delivers flavors of roasted malt and chocolate. Sea Legs was aged in Bourbon Barrels for nearly 12 months adding toasted vanilla and bourbon notes to the flavor profile. This Medium-bodied Baltic Porter has a complex malt profile and mild hop bitterness. With a hidden ABV of 8%, Sea Legs is a siren of a beer.

Bottle @ home picked up at Wilbur’s Fort Collins. Pours a deep brown appearance with a dark brown head. Really a nice bourbon, vanilla oaky, light coconut, sweet dark chocolate aroma. Initially, there’s some fruity notes that are then surpassed by dark chocolate, roasty malts, mild bourbon, light woody flavor with a bit sweet, chocolate finish. The bourbon is tame but nice. One of my favorite offerings from Uinta thus far.

Not quite a Baltic, very significant chocolate and significant roast. Some hop in finish. A tad thin but very good drinkability.

Tap at Rustico Alexandria. Pours a clear, deep ruby cola. No head really. Nose is paper, tomato, black pepper, thick candy syrup, licorice. Taste is thin, sweet, some tea, seasoned tomato, mild dry cocoa powder. Not my thing.

Not too much barrel. For sure a solid beer. Again maybe not the style most suitable for barrel aging.

Draft. Light chocolate malt aroma. Brown-black with small head. Very sweet chocolate syrup and malt flavor. Okay but a bit cloying.

BMan1113VR (7884) - Los Angeles, California, USA - APR 28, 2013
Bottle (Bottled on 12/04/12). Pours with a black hued body with a large brown head. Good retention and lace. Aromas are of roasty, dark fruit esters (plum, dates), light licorice, deep chocolate, dusty wood, light oak, minimal bourbon, vanilla. More oak than bourbon. Flavors are oaky, licorice, under ripe plums, roasty tobacco, ashy roast, moderately bready malt. Barrel character is low for a bourbon barrel aged baltic porter. Very high carbonation, medium to full bodied, warming.

Scopey (7867) - Croydon, Greater London, ENGLAND - JUN 24, 2014
Bottle at Bruce’s. It pours near black with a tiny tan head. The nose is fresh piney, toast, citrus peel, pine needles, soap and cocoa. The taste is bitter-sweet, toasty, earth, coffee, citrus peel, soap, pine and varnish. Medium and fine carbonation. Solid enough, but not a game changer.
