3.8 AROMA 8/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 8/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 15/20
Tap. Pours a clear very dark brown body with a small Duffy dark brown head that retained as a thin film. The nose is rich and roasty with some chocolate, coffee, and licorice. A light bit of alcohol, but pretty minimal. The flavor is sweet and licorice laced with a chocolaty finish and some light roast. A slight kick of alcohol on the finish, but the sweetness really mutes it. Medium bodied and slightly sticky from the residual sweetness, soft gentle carbonation. Pretty solid Baltic Porter. One of the better beers in the Crooked Line series.

3.7 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 5/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 14/20
From the July 2014 3R6P gathering. +++ Sampled from a 750 ml brown bottle this beer poured a black color with a huge foamy dark tan head that lingered forever and left decent lacing. The aroma was cola, anise, vanilla, cocoa and red wine. The flavor was toasty malts, vanilla, wood, cocoa, anise, red wine and heather. Medium finish. Moderately full bodied and creamy. Solid.

Bottle sample at the Uinta tasting at Blacklick Wine & Spirits on 2/7/13. Darkest brown in color with a thick tan head. Aroma of brownies, roast and oak. Malty, chocolatey and roasty flavor with a bit of sourness before a roasty finish.

3.9 AROMA 6/10 APPEARANCE 5/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 17/20
This corked and caged bottled brew from a bottle shop poured a head of foamy finely sized brown colored bubbles that were long lasting and left behind a no visible carbonation opaque dark brown colored body and an excellent lacing. The mild aroma was dark malt. The mildly vinous mouth feel was weakly tingly at the start and at the finish with a biting mild roasted malt aftertaste. The nice flavor contained notes of black malt roasted malt wood dark malt and hops. Delicious and one I would certainly buy again.

4.4 AROMA 8/10 APPEARANCE 5/5 TASTE 8/10 PALATE 5/5 OVERALL 18/20
Had quite awhile back, I guess I forgot to rate it. This is a thick beer with a nice roast and bite, and not too sweet. Really quite tasty.

3.8 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 8/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 15/20
Pours mahogany-tinged black into an English pint. Mocha head with medium retention recedes leaving spider lacing. Dark caramel, chocolate and soy aromas. Medium bodied with chocolate and licorice upfront turning to earthy espresso in the lasting finish.

3.6 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 14/20
Draft at oakquinox 2013. Dark brown, near black pour, with a light tan head. Chocolate, roast, earthy, molasses, light notes of coffee and plum, and light bourbon vanilla. Pretty good, but the barrel character was not pronounced.

3.7 AROMA 8/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 16/20
750ml bottle - $12.99 at Bullock’s Wine & Spirits in Marietta, Georgia.
Bottled On: 11/21/12.
Appearance: Pours an onyx black body with an initially tall, tan head, though it collapses fairly soon.
Smell: Fudge, carob chips, flecks of charred malt. Then, some vanilla and oak from the barrel. Light, leafy touch from the hops. Hint of foiled dark fruits, a bit of musty, funkiness cut from razor thin sniffs of alcohol.
Taste: Bittersweet chocolate, carob, and some slightly burnt malt hinting at espresso start. Medium-light sweetness. Slight, somewhat subtle vanilla and oaken elements from the barrel treatment. There’s a very, very light but noticeable funkiness for me, giving it a faintly sourish backing. Soiled dark fruitiness. Mild hop character, very low bitterness. Warming, chary, chocolaty finish.
Mouthfeel: Medium-plus body. Medium-plus carbonation, initially. Smooth, as it glides across the tongue, but there’s ample suds all the same (initially, at least).
Overall: A decent sipper. I think I like it. I think?
