Pours mahogany-tinged black into an English pint. Mocha head with medium retention recedes leaving spider lacing. Dark caramel, chocolate and soy aromas. Medium bodied with chocolate and licorice upfront turning to earthy espresso in the lasting finish.

Black pour with a small foamy light tan head. Aroma has some bourbon notes with a bit of dark cocoa and a caramel notes. The flavor is rich and smooth with some sweet caramel flavors, dark cocoa, light oaked bourbon, some wood, and more caramel cocoa tones. Really tasty and big with caramel and chocolate bourbon notes.

Dark pour with good head and lacing. Lots of roast in this, and some bourbon to be sure. Tap at Snallygaster.

750ml bottle - $12.99 at Bullock’s Wine & Spirits in Marietta, Georgia.

Bottled On: 11/21/12.

Appearance: Pours an onyx black body with an initially tall, tan head, though it collapses fairly soon.

Smell: Fudge, carob chips, flecks of charred malt. Then, some vanilla and oak from the barrel. Light, leafy touch from the hops. Hint of foiled dark fruits, a bit of musty, funkiness cut from razor thin sniffs of alcohol.

Taste: Bittersweet chocolate, carob, and some slightly burnt malt hinting at espresso start. Medium-light sweetness. Slight, somewhat subtle vanilla and oaken elements from the barrel treatment. There’s a very, very light but noticeable funkiness for me, giving it a faintly sourish backing. Soiled dark fruitiness. Mild hop character, very low bitterness. Warming, chary, chocolaty finish.

Mouthfeel: Medium-plus body. Medium-plus carbonation, initially. Smooth, as it glides across the tongue, but there’s ample suds all the same (initially, at least).

Overall: A decent sipper. I think I like it. I think?

ClubGonzo (4226) - Bergen, NORWAY - JUL 20, 2014
Bottle. Pours a pitch black body with a massive light beige rocky head of considerable longevity. Aroma is cold coffee, leather, licorice, hints of freshly cut grass, dark berries and pine. Taste is coffee, pine, licorice, leather and hints of dark malts, dark berries and milk chocolate. Full body, soft to medium carbonation. Although a bit off the regular style profile for a Baltic Porter as far as I’m concerned, a pleasant porter from Uinta all in all.

750ml c&c bottle from Canal’s EHT. Poured a deep black body with an average sized beige foamy head. Aroma is okay, sort of dusty, notes of vanilla beans, dry chocolate powder, some chocolate swyrup, wet dark toast, burnt malts, wood and some bourbon. Palate is okay, foamy body with a medium mouthfeel. Flavor of dry chocolate, light vanilla, some wood, hint of bourbon, dry dark toast. Overall meh, expected more from Crooked Line series.

Overpriced bottle at Freakin Frog. Slight chocolate to this porter. But aroma doesn’t give off chocolate so much as something else. Slight roast. Creamy.

Bottle @ The BeerMongers on New Years Eve... Poured deep, jet black with a easy forming, eggy, off-white head. A nice drinking Baltic Porter. Smooth, clean, well rounded. Not too cloying or thick of a mouthfeel. Nice notes of cherries and other dark fruits with vanilla, worty malts, caramel cream, and a faint oak booziness. Not too oaky or woody. Definitely seemed to have been blended out a bit. A great beer. If it was about $2-3 cheaper it would make for a great buy.

Bottle. The look is dark, brownish black in color, and has a tan head. The smell is malt, roast, coffee, chocolate, nice, and cocoa. The taste is malts, cocoa, chocolate, roast, well balanced.

Rich and viscous piceous black pour with two fingers of crackling dark tan head. Toasted wood and bitter chocolate in the nose, notes of burnt sugar and black strap molasses. Big and rich flavor, bitter chocolate and dark fruit skins with a touch of acidity. Molasses and caramel, lightly roasty with a touch of wood on the finish. Medium to full bodied. Nice
