4.8 AROMA 9/10 APPEARANCE 5/5 TASTE 10/10 PALATE 5/5 OVERALL 19/20
As I inch up on 5000 with some stellar beers ... here’s another beauty. Dark, brooding. The aroma is pure sexuality .. rich with dark fruit, and even a little bit smoke. This is an amazing drink, as well. Full-bodied, a bit ashy, but rife with rich, roiling flavors of chocolate, raisin, rye, coffee, and any other rich, dark flavor you can think of. Brilliant. 3.8 AROMA 8/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 8/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 15/20
Tap. Pours a clear very dark brown body with a small Duffy dark brown head that retained as a thin film. The nose is rich and roasty with some chocolate, coffee, and licorice. A light bit of alcohol, but pretty minimal. The flavor is sweet and licorice laced with a chocolaty finish and some light roast. A slight kick of alcohol on the finish, but the sweetness really mutes it. Medium bodied and slightly sticky from the residual sweetness, soft gentle carbonation. Pretty solid Baltic Porter. One of the better beers in the Crooked Line series.
