750ml bottle from Imbibe Wine. Nose is chocolate, vanilla, with hints of roast, bourbon, and coconut. Black with a big, heavy lacing beige head. Flavor is peppery, light bitterness and sweetness, with a very light bit of bourbon. Good but not great as the barrel characteristics are not very pronounced.

Dark near black pour with ring of brown head. Nose is slightly boozy and a hint vegetal. Roasty and toasty and vanilla notes. Really smooth and chocolately. Smooth and velvety, but not overly chewy or thick. Perfect mouthfeel for a porter. Really enjoyed this.

750ml bottle. oily black pour with a very large, fluffy, whipped brown head. aroma hints at oaky vanilla note with milk chocolate roasted malts. a bit more carbonated than i prefer, with a medium body. flavor has notes of milk chocolate, oak barrel, hints of vanilla, caramel, and toast. there is a light distracting funkiness probably from the barrel. solid, but not my favorite in the awesome crooked line series.

Big bottle. Pours a thick black color with a thick tan head on it. I found it slightly bitter with just a hint of roasting in there. The feel of it was a tad harsh, but it was a very interesting drink.

bottle at Ft Wayne tasting Sep 14, 2013 - Pours very dark brown and has an aroma of dark roast malt, coffee, and chocolate. It tastes of smoky, dark roast malt with chocolate. The palate is smooth and full bodied. Some roasty bitterness lingers in the finish. Almost 12 months on bourbon? I’m surprised. I couldn’t really taste bourbon. Good beer though...

Bottle. Pours deep, dark brown with thick frothy beige head; good retention and lacing. Aroma is roasted and caramel malts, cocoa, earthy hops, figs, light smoke, oak, and mixed nuts. Flavor is roast malt forward with good dark fruit esters and earthy hops (light bitterness); dry, roasted finish. Medium body and low carbonation.

Dark beer with a foamy brown head. Lots of chocolate in the nose. Flavors of chocolate, ripe fruit, raisin with some caramel sweetness and warming alcohol. Some oak and vanilla flavors. This is a smooth, rich beer.

"Solid brew as are most of this crooked line. Barrel faint at first especially in the nose but it opens up well. Only fault is a little prickliness and slight overcarbonation. Dark fruits, roasted malt and barrel are well balanced and tasty. Nothing is really quite a 9, but there are a couple 8.5’s so there ya go."

750 ml bottle. Near black with tan head. Aroma and taste is roasted, salty, dark bitter chocolate, rye bread and earthy hop notes. Nice
