Complex and drinkable, Sea Legs delivers flavors of roasted malt and chocolate. Sea Legs was aged in Bourbon Barrels for nearly 12 months adding toasted vanilla and bourbon notes to the flavor profile. This Medium-bodied Baltic Porter has a complex malt profile and mild hop bitterness. With a hidden ABV of 8%, Sea Legs is a siren of a beer.

Almost black beer with brown hues and a medium, brown head. Strong aromas of cocoa and some booze. Tastes of roasted coffee, sweet dark chocolate, molasses, and hints of bourbon-like flavoring. Earthy and chewy mouth feel. Finish is of bitter cocoa. A bit smoky too. Very tasty and surprisingly easy to drink.

Bottle from the brewery, cellared two years. Awesome black color with thick tan foam. Porter front taste then chocolate with the oak and vanilla finish. Very smooth!

750 ml, corked and caged. Cool label. Pours a pitch black color with a medium, very creamy brown head. An interesting nose of bourbon, roast, metallic notes, anise. The flavor is great: sweet vanilla, bourbon, roast, mellow fruit, a gentle creamy palate. Coca. A bit of cola in the finish and more vanilla. Very decadent. Awesome. The palate is amazing.

Bottle. Colour...basically black with a thick tan head. Nose...oak, vanillin, toffee. Palate...creamy though not esp thick. Lots of oak and some smoke with an ashen/char aspect that exists throughout the palate. There’s plenty of chocolate, as well, but in a subdued manner that just happens to be omnipresent through the experience.

Big bottle. Pours a thick black color with a thick tan head on it. I found it slightly bitter with just a hint of roasting in there. The feel of it was a tad harsh, but it was a very interesting drink.

Bottle @ The BeerMongers on New Years Eve... Poured deep, jet black with a easy forming, eggy, off-white head. A nice drinking Baltic Porter. Smooth, clean, well rounded. Not too cloying or thick of a mouthfeel. Nice notes of cherries and other dark fruits with vanilla, worty malts, caramel cream, and a faint oak booziness. Not too oaky or woody. Definitely seemed to have been blended out a bit. A great beer. If it was about $2-3 cheaper it would make for a great buy.

On draught at Roscoe’s. Deep dark porter almost feels like a stout. Barrel aging imparts rich boozy aftertaste.

Thin, dark body, average head. The aroma is sweet and smokey. The bourbon quality is present as a rich vanilla, and the smokey malt qualities had a nutty, bready character that just worked perfectly with the oak. I’d suggest this as a great starter for anyone who’s interested in bourbon barrel aged beers, it’s very smooth and very sweet, but not at all subtle. Of the beers I tried that were _new_ to me, this is the one I’ll most certainly add to my own regular rotation if I can find it.

On tap at Mekong. Poured black with a good very light tan head. Aroma of chocolate, vanilla, faint bourbon. Flavor is chocolate, espresso, vanilla, and more woodsy bourbon notes. Medium body, quite smooth on the palate. Nicely done baltic porter, and the bourbon aging gives it an interesting twist. Quite good.

UPDATED: FEB 17, 2015 Thanks to Aaron for this. Lovely stuff. Vanilla, and boozy with subtle woodiness. A little smokey. Smooth very drinkable for the complexity. Serving: Bottle
