25.4 ounce bottle. Pours a golden color with a 4+ inch white head collapses slowly. Taste is of malt, spice, hops, pepper, grass, light citrus and some grapefruit. Similar clean aroma. Has a nice creamy body. The finish is warming and a bit bitter and dry. Very easy to drink and quite enjoyable. Far too easy to drink the whole bottle. Good Stuff.

Appearance: thick, dark gold with a soapy, bright white head. Aroma: honey, pepper, grass, hay, creamed corn, pie crust. Taste: chewy, thick malts vie with slightly aggressive black pepper and lemongrass, with a bit of honeysuckle underneath. Finish: ends with lingering, slightly viscous full mouthfeel and a slight alcohol warming. Notes: I don’t get the ’imperial pilsner’ craze. Pilsners are supposed to be light, zippy and refreshing. I’m a huge Uinta fan, but I didn’t care for this. Attempting to make a pilser ’imperial’ just makes a thick, boozy mess.

Very nice strong lager. A bit on the stale side in terms of flavor and very aggressive alcohol decision, but on the whole, this is a good beer. Winchell brought this beer back to Lawrence with him from SLC in 2013.

Sampled once a year ago or so. Grassy sweet malty nose. Fairly malty on the palate, yet hay filled and light dirty hop finish. Decent.

(Rating #4734)

Bottle:   Pale straw, hazy, thing sudsy white head, spotty lacing.   Bright straw, a little floral in a herbal sense, low shrub like fruitiness.   Bright straw, a little heavy, fairly malty, sweet, with some honey and floral notes.   Fairly decent I must say.   Body and mouthfeel are moderate to full.   Its very smooth.   Strong sweet grassiness lingers.   Thankfully this is not mealy, nor bready, but straight up strong grassiness with a sweet honey and floral aspect.   For a 9% beer, its well hidden as well.   Dangerously drinkable.

Overall- This was a rather interesting brew. The aroma with its fermenting melon smells was slightly off putting, but not totally so (somewhat intriguing). Its taste was rather unique with a fascinating mixture of flavors and transitions. I kind of liked the odd flavor profile and while it is not something I would go frequently, it is worth a try and a time to time go to.
