Corn, yeast, pale malt, grassy hop, lemon and berry aroma. Very clear orange and yellow color. Good head retention. Taste is much more lager than pilsner, grassy and fruity as well as corn.

750 ml corked and caged bottle. Bottled 1/4/13. Pours almost clear copper with a large off-white head with excellent retention; leaves behind decorative lacework. Aroma is doughy, lemony, biscuity, caramelly. Taste is lightly sweet before turning bitter mid-palate and remaining that way through the somewhat long finish. Has the nice bready flavor that I look for in this style, along with a strong hop counterpoint. Alcohol is noticeable, but it’s not boozy--always a plus. Has a creamy mouthfeel; fairly big body, soft carbonation. I like me a good Imperial Pils, and this is one.

Draft at craft ale house. Pours clear yellow with a small white head and tons of carbonation. The aroma has some light grass, mild grain, a little of your typical lager yeast notes. The taste is a big, biscuit beer with a very light hop finish. Easy to drink for the style.

Bottle. Great beer, artwork reminds me of Daniel Clowes. Smooth and kinda creamy, it’s more bitter than expected. Aroma gives you bread and honey. Taste of honey, toast, and a citrus bitter.

Bottle: Poured a hazy dirty beige color pilsner with a rather large off-white foamy head with good retention and some lacing. Aroma consists of dry and floral hops with some sweet notes from a crystal malt base. Taste is a mix between some dry and floral hops profile with some quite sweet crystal malt base. Body is quite full with good carbonation and no apparent alcohol. Interesting though a touch too sweet to be an everyday beer.

My Bottom Line:
Biscuity malts are doused in honey in this heavy, oily interpretation of an Imperial Pilsner.

Further Personal Perceptions:
-A veil of foam covers the hazy pale amber shine.
-Malt flavors are loud, yet never recall Pils malts. Disappointing.
-The flavor profile is exactly what you expect from the aroma.
-This is in the Dogfish Head mold of potent, sugary brews. Well-made, but lacks subtlety for my tastes in the style.
-Herbal hops are there, but mostly smothered by the residual sugars.

Bottle. Thx Steve!

750 ml bottle dated 9/14/12 popped when uncorked. Pours a clear golden orange with big foamy white head and some spotty lacing. Smells like a pilsener. Aroma has lots of sweet malts, some bread, and honey. Tastes sweet with a slightly bitter finish with alcohol burn noticeable. Medium bodied with a slick mouthfeel and only slight carbonation. Overall a bit of a disappointment. I’d rather have 3 500ml bottles of Eastern European strong lagers than this, given the same price.

FROTHINGSLOSH (4909) - GREENSBURG, Pennsylvania, USA - DEC 10, 2012
From the 12/2012 3R6P tasting. +++ Sampled from a 750 ml brown bottle this beer poured a murky yellow-golden color with a medium sized foamy white head that left a bit of lacing. The aroma was sweet and tangy orange, bread and honey. The flavor was dryish and musty with some cardboard, orange, pepper and bread. Medium length orange and bread finish. Moderately full bodied. Solid.
