3.8 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 8/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 15/20
C&C 750 mL bottle from Whole Foods Market, Charlottesville, VA. Pours a clear golden color with a large frothy white head. Good head retention and lacing. Aroma of pale malts and faint grassy hops. The taste is grassy hops, corn, fruity notes including mango, pear and pineapple. Light on the palate and not a hint of the alcohol content. Some grassiness returns in the finish. Fairly crisp and clean. Very interesting beer, fairly nice.

2 AROMA 4/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 4/10 PALATE 1/5 OVERALL 7/20
Tap at Paradiso Georgetown. Pours a clear, deep yellow with a sheeting white head. Aroma of honey, malt, cherries, and sweet syrup. Taste is malty, boozy, spicy, with a palate that is powdery dry. But as this warms and I spend more time with it, the nose really devolves quite a bit. What was sweet with some oddities now smells like diabetic, sugar heavy urine; cherry powder, even a bit of poopy toilet. Something old and fusel in character is making itself known. Taste is trash malty, powder, flour, bland corn starch. Really just a definitive drain pour. Really just unenjoyable. Vile, gag-reflex on the palate.

3.2 AROMA 6/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 6/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 14/20
Sample at the Sour Village / CCB Tasting on 05/20/2011. This beer is a lustrous golden-yellow color with a medium thin bone whitehead that evaporates steadily. Short strings of lacing. Aroma of mildly spiced hops and malt. Medium body with flavors of grainy malt, hops and zesty fruit. The finish is mildly hopped and short. Pretty average overall, I was expecting more.

3.2 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 6/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 13/20
Bottle courtesy of Radek. Deep golden pour with a thick white head. The nose is semi-sweet and a little bit honeyed. Some light sticky malt and a touch of cooling minty honey malt flavour. A little bit of soft herbal malt flavour. Simple brew – probably has a bit of age on it, but it’s decent enough.

3.2 AROMA 6/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 6/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 13/20
My Bottom Line:
Biscuity malts are doused in honey in this heavy, oily interpretation of an Imperial Pilsner.
Further Personal Perceptions:
-A veil of foam covers the hazy pale amber shine.
-Malt flavors are loud, yet never recall Pils malts. Disappointing.
-The flavor profile is exactly what you expect from the aroma.
-This is in the Dogfish Head mold of potent, sugary brews. Well-made, but lacks subtlety for my tastes in the style.
-Herbal hops are there, but mostly smothered by the residual sugars.
Bottle. Thx Steve!

2.8 AROMA 6/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 5/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 11/20
Pours clear medium gold with 3 finger white head. Nose is pale malt, mild hopcitrus. Tastes pale malty, with some sweetness, and a crisp hoppy finish. Medium to light palate with pretty well hidden alcohol. Not as good as Sam Impy Pils or the Rogue version, and just OK overall.

3 AROMA 6/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 6/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 12/20
750mL bottle. Poured crystal-clear, bright orange with a short cap of white head. The aroma picked up bready notes and honey with sour lemony accents.. smelled a little brash, but aiight. The flavor found more of the honey and lesser bready malts at the semi-sweet core.. lemon zest led in spicing up the edges, along with dry, subtle earth and some prickly alcohol.. warm on the finish, with enough residual sugars to keep it partially in check. Medium-bodied with low-ish carbonation on the palate.. a tad sharp at times.. warmed up the belly. This was decent on all fronts.

2.6 AROMA 5/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 5/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 10/20
A Mes rate. Bottle at the Cad’s.
Clean gold with a decent bright white head. Slight card and baked beans on the nose but not overly offensive. Metallic and corny flavour with rather a lot of alcohol showing. Some fairly harsh bitterness in the finish. Maybe it’s struggling. Maybe it’s just poor.
