750 ml bottle caged and corked from Holiday Wine Cellar in Escondido, on sale for $5. Seems that not a lot of people are a fan of rauchbier, but my tastes are adventurous. Pour is deep gold, somewhat cloudy, with a one finger, creamy white head that maintains and leaves thick lacing. Strong campfire aroma. Lightly sweet, light bitter, light salty, mildly sour. Has a light to medium body, thin texture, average carbonation, and smokey, long finish. I like this more as I get further into the bottle, the strong flavors grow on you and become more mild. Overall has a dry feel with plenty of smoke. Would be good to pair with a cheese and salami plate.

Ballcock adjustment and matching pj’s at great wolf lodge. Smoke-y and santa hats. Brutus, pontius and the other bloke have it easy. Oddly tart. Thanks saint nick, my wife, AndyReynolds and tj from Deps.

3.8 AROMA 8/10 APPEARANCE 5/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 14/20
Meaty smoke aroma, little roasted notes, just smoke. Crystal clear amber thick yellow head, good lace. Smoke, sweet lemon candy. Odd mix, and maybe a slight exaggeration, but this seems very sweet. The sweet smoke subsides, leaving just a mild lemongrass finish. Medium body, soft carbonation, smooth. Very odd beer, and not terribly enjoyable at first, but it doesn’t take long to become better acquainted with this. There’s no way you could appreciate this beer from anything less than the 750ml bottle it comes in.

UPDATED: DEC 11, 2014 Dallas bottle oddly enough from Super H-Mart. Pours clear gold with a nice white head. Good barbecue aroma and you can get some of the sweeter base beer. Flavor is less smoke and more sweetness and light booze. Maybe a hint of sour too. Okay but disjointed.

Pours hazy golden orange with a large white head. Smells sweet and smoky. Taste is smoke, hints of bitterness and sweetness. Medium-bodied with a wet texture and mild mouth-carbonation, Uinta Crooked Line Tinder Rauchbeir finishes with semi sweet, almost tart, smokiness.

750 ml. caged and corked bottle. Bottled 01/22/14. Pours a huge, gradually collapsing, ivory head, with heavy lacing, over a slightly hazy, amber (SRM 12) body....nose is moderate smoke, light cereal malts, no esters, minimal hops, balance to the smoked malts.......taste is moderate smoke, light cereal malts, slight hints of sweetness, finishing clean and dry, with moderate hop bitterness, no esters.....mouth feel, light of medium body, no alcohol, light acid, mild carbonation. This is lower in smoke than others in the style making for a rather gentle Rauchbier. The malts also are a bit simple and could use a bit of an increase. Finally, it should be clear, not hazy neigh on to cloudy, but that raises the question of storage during the year. BJCP 7/2/13/4/6

True to the Bamberg style, this rauchbier is spot on. Murky light brown, with minimal head, smells like smoked meat and fireplaces. Taste is smooth, with all of the emphasis on the smoked malts. Just perfect.
