Set your senses ablaze with Tinder, a smoldering Rauchbier that kindles moderately malty sweetness and robust smokiness. Brewed with Bamberg beechwood-smoked malt, this medium-bodied lager ignites distinct campfire smoke flavors and aroma.

Quite smokey with what Iíd guess is a Helles base. Not overbearing amounts of meatiness, pretty drinkable for the style. Tasty but I probably wouldnít buy again because I had trouble finishing half a bottle.

750 ml corked and caged bottle. Two years old. Didnít notice that till I got it home, damn. Aroma is strong campfire, smoked ham, some funk, awesomeness. Taste is sweet and smoky, not as promising as the aroma, but still pretty dang good. Mouthfeel is a little too foamy and thin for my tastes. Still, very good overall.

Well, stumbled on this stopping to see the sensei to share some holiday cheer. Tried frying his palate with a glug of cheap moonshine...to no avail. Out came this tasty treat. Smoke in a way I havenít had before. Has the distant char taste found when gnawing down a plate of burnt ends. Raw charred wood. And it was fantastic. Kept a smoked beer from beginning heavy or sweet. Yum.

Bottle shared with the limping one. Big nose of campfire smoke that is mirrored in the body and mounthfeel of this critter. surprisingly light on the palate. Smoked kielbasa and jerky. A nice souring finish makes me happy I bought two bottles.

750 ml 2 yo bottle. Pours hazy golden with tall, long-lasting, fluffy white head and nice lacing. Aroma is of smoky wood, funky yeast and bready malt. Body is medium and smooth. Smoky wood, herbal hops, pale malt and sourness fill the mouth. Finish is long and smoky. Interesting brew.

The Beer Store, Southampton, PA bottle: Pours amber with a slightly off-white head. Aroma is smokey meat with nice bit of malt in there. Smells and tastes like a traditional rauchbier. Some minor sweetness. Perhaps a hit of sourness on a big quaff. Nice slightly smokey aftertaste. Not bad.

Pours a slightly hazy, bright golden orange color with apricot colored edges and a two finger, yellowish-beige head that very slowly settles into a thick, lasting ring. Very good retention with a pillowy cap that takes a while to settle, leaving streaks of soapy lacing in itís path. Sweet, slightly smokey aroma with a nice charcoal/campfire character countered by sweet malt backbone. Decent smoke character but not too intense with hints of butane, ash and smoked meat countered by sweet caramel malt, toffee and biscuit. I would have preferred a little more smoke but itís not tame by any stretch if the imagination. Inviting nose on this beer thatís reminiscent of a lighter version of an authentic German rauch bier. Medium body with crisp carbonation and a strong smoked malt flavor thatís heavier than the aroma suggests. The beechwood smoke really stands out with hints of ash, charcoal, burnt malt, and barbecued bacon. This is countered by a sweet malt backbone and light bready yeast character. Caramel sweetness along with toffee, hazelnut, bread and subtle dark fruit esters. Very good imitation of a rauch bier flavor profile but slightly less intense. Similar to something from Schlenkerla but the smoke flavor isnít quite as rich or complex. Still, this beer is well balanced and easy to drink while packing a decent amount of smokey flavor.

Bottle thanks to Eugene. The night is over and all I have are the remnants, which means almost half a bottle of this -- apparently the world doesnít appreciate smoked beers. But Iíve got my x-files and Iím in the mood to tick, so bring it. Clear copper pour. Not a lot head now, but there may have been some a few hours ago, so Iíll let it slide. Aroma: bandaid/adhesive. Taste: toast, caramel, light campfire. Moderately sweet. Light bitterness. Medium bandaid. Newfoundland (??? wtf autocorrect, thatís "medium") body, slick texture. Overall: the kind of smoked beer that doesnít appeal to me.

This was poured into a mug with a light hazy bronzed semi-burnt orange to ruddy brown color with a one finger white to off white foamy head. Thick foamy lacing roams around the glass after the head dissipated. The smell starts off with a rich sweet to moderately smoked malts. Light meatiness enters in after a bit of warming. The taste was mainly sweet with an ample amount of smoked malt portion. Meatiness is extremely subdued. But a light crisp breadiness does show some extra flavor and ends up leading slightly into the aftertaste and on into a quick sweet moderately smokey finish. On the palate, this one sat about a light to medium on the body with a pretty good sessionability about it. Carbonation runs fairly light. Smooth sweet to smokiness runs along my tongue nicely. Overall, smoked lager or rauchbier (as I have very little experience with rauchbiers), its good for me and I would have it again.

Bottle. Moderate dark bread and caramel for the malt, moderate herbs for the hops, and meat for the yeast, with a big note of smoke. Head is small, frothy, white with some slippery lacing and is almost fully diminishing. Color is murky medium amber. Flavor starts lightly to moderately sweet and acidic, then finishes lightly acidic and moderately bitter. Palate is on the fuller side of medium, slick, with a fizzy carbonation. Full of smoke and the right amount sweetness in this Smoked Beer.
