COMMERCIAL DESCRIPTION
Formerly known as Hop Notch. Wonderful complex flavos, like no other, simply a great tasting IPA. It’s balanced, strong malt backbone, citrusy nose, with hints of pine and grass.

UPDATED: FEB 23, 2013 12 oz. bottle- Pours mostly clear orange with a one finger head that reduces to a blanket. Aroma is very hoppy, citrusy and pine, light malt. Taste is wonderfully hoppy, pine, malt is there but not in your face thankfully. Body is medium and carbonation is slightly high. Overall I really liked this, lately it seems all I have had in IPA’s is the balanced more malty than I’d like type, this does not shy away from the hops, which is awesome.

Growler from DeCiccos-Ardsley. Pours gold with an amber hue and a asting, white head. Smells of pineapple, honeydew, some pine undertones. Tastes mildly bitter with a resiny presence and a peppery splash on the finish.

Wow. Outstanding aroma -- like fresh squeezed grapefruit and orange juice. Nice citrus flavor, tangerine, grapefruit and some mango. Really strong malty backbone... almost too much for my taste. Still a very good beer.

Bottle. Hazy amber liquid with medium off-white head. Aroma of mango, citrus, spices, caramel, biscuit and red berries. Taste is light sweet and light to medium bitter with notes of mango, citrus and caramel. Nice tropical fruit component. Medium bodied with medium carbonation. Too light bitterness.

If they made beer cologne – and if they don’t they should – this wouldn’t be a bad place to start.

STYLE: American IPA

ABV: 7.3%

LOOK: Creamy head sits nicely atop a surprisingly clear amber, more vinegar than oil. Slow but persistent carbonation up the gut. I can tell already, the lacing, it’s there.

NOSE: Classic West Coast IPA. Sugared grapefruit right away. Also orange. Also pineapple. And also nectarines. There’s a wonderful little piney note, like if you took a citrus cocktail and stirred it with just a needle or two. Tempting and coy.

MOUTH: It can’t replicate the nose, and that’s a shame because I had orgasmic hopes for a mouth parade. What I need here is some sweet honey tang and something that sticks in my gums for a minute. This, I’m afraid, is too light to be excellent. But not to get too caught up in the negatives, because there are some, let’s cover the positives. Because there are just as many. Sharper pine without being overwhelming. Clever bitterness. And a nice malty gulp.
