Formerly known as Hop Notch. Wonderful complex flavos, like no other, simply a great tasting IPA. Itís balanced, strong malt backbone, citrusy nose, with hints of pine and grass.

Bottle from Valley Farm. Fairly citric hoppy nose. Grapefruit hop notes up front. Solid maltiness. Solid quaffable IPA.

Very bitter IPA. Had it on tap at Carolina Ale House. Good aroma and appearance. Solid beer

The thing I like about most Uinta beers is they are four percent alcohol and still full flavored. This one is above four percent alcohol and is still full flavored. Itís less impressive but, hey, what can you do. The beer geek public clamors for big IPA, money wadded in their grubby hands. I appreciate a good businessman as well as a good brewery so I do not fault Uinta for making Hop Notch. It is a good beer, all said. It pours a slightly hazed orange w/ a relatively long lasting head of mixed bubbles. Itís nose is citric hops w/ a baby-powder like lavender note. This drinks about the same as their lower gravity brews which is great but itís strong so you canít drink as much and, frankly, that blows--and I mean that in a good way. This has a nice dry palate w/ just a touch of sweetness that doesnít hamper drinkability and serves mostly to balance firm hops in the finish. Definitely a tasty example of the style, I just wish it was four percent alcohol.

Delicious IPA. Not very bitter, but very fruity. Hints of grass. A great summer IPA.

UPDATED: FEB 4, 2013 great ipa. super perfume-y/flowery aroma. flavor very topical, citrus, bitterness is moderate but lingering. reminds me of union jack a little. very fruity and clean, love the hop profile on this one. "hop notch" really is "top notch" comes together very well, very balanced with emphasis on tropical flavors. Definitely recommended from me

Bottle 355 ml
Aroma: straight clean aromatic hop character. Hint of citrus, green backing, touch of vanilla. Apricot fruit end. 8-
Appearance: slight haze on amber with proper medium sized cap. Good lace presented.
Palate / Taste: medium bodied. Medium lighter carbonation. Slight hop dryness. Woody, earthy hops sitting on caramel sweet base. Well blended IPA.

Bottle. Golden orange hazy pour with beige head. Grassy, herbal and earthy hop aromas. Flavor is earthy, grassy, citrus hop tones with some significant malt characteristics.

A pretty good IPA, but what I like about it is its balance, rather than any one interesting or defining characteristic. Agree with some other comments that what I"m calling balance could come across as undefined. Thatís a flaw for a IPA, which I think is a type of beer that by nature should have some type of distinct hop note to it. Still, very drinkable, and the bitterness is a pleasant one. . . just leaves me wishing for something to define it. When Green Flash says "taste it once, remember it forever" you know what that means. . . by that standard, this one is not memorable.

Bottle. Pours a very orangey pale amber with a medium-sized off white head. Aroma is heavy on the hops -- very resinous, with some citrus and pineapple. Flavor is balanced. Lots of caramel malt and resinous, citrusy hops. Thick mouthfeel.

Pours clear gold with a thin white head. Lots of citrus aroma of pineapple, peach, grapefruit, and perhaps some pear of apple. Taste has much more pine than the initial impressions. The citrus is much more muted and is replaced with a grassy flavor. Good amount of bitter hops, while neither the bitterness or hops is overpowering while drinking. The bitterness hits you in the aftertaste. Dry, medium bodied, with a sticky palate. This one is alright, but not as full or tasteful as others in this style.
