3.6 AROMA 10/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 2/5 OVERALL 14/20
If they made beer cologne Ė and if they donít they should Ė this wouldnít be a bad place to start.
STYLE: American IPA
LOOK: Creamy head sits nicely atop a surprisingly clear amber, more vinegar than oil. Slow but persistent carbonation up the gut. I can tell already, the lacing, itís there.
NOSE: Classic West Coast IPA. Sugared grapefruit right away. Also orange. Also pineapple. And also nectarines. Thereís a wonderful little piney note, like if you took a citrus cocktail and stirred it with just a needle or two. Tempting and coy.
MOUTH: It canít replicate the nose, and thatís a shame because I had orgasmic hopes for a mouth parade. What I need here is some sweet honey tang and something that sticks in my gums for a minute. This, Iím afraid, is too light to be excellent. But not to get too caught up in the negatives, because there are some, letís cover the positives. Because there are just as many. Sharper pine without being overwhelming. Clever bitterness. And a nice malty gulp.

Out of a can hazy dull orange/amber small off white head. Lots of deep rich citrus and piney resinous hop flavors. Sturdy malt body. Big and serious.

Nice and hoppy but not a complexity of hops. I'm not seasoned enough to pick out which variety of hops they use but kind of one dimensional.

3.6 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 15/20
12 fl oz bottle. Pours a slightly hazy amber with some sediment floaters, and a one finger light tan coloured head. On the nose, lots of resinous notes, with grapefruit, passion fruit, faint lemon, and a hit of booziness. Medium bodied with some mild sweetness hiding under the bitter grapefruit, citrus pith, light caramel, and tropical fruit notes up front. Then it heads into more pith-like bitterness, mineral notes, with some above average bitterness with some heavy fruit notes in the finish. Itís not extraordinary, but itís solid.

Bright tangerine hops, sugary citrus, slightly floral aroma; hazy orange color, thin off white crown; floral and citrus hops, fresh hops, hair enough malt, but a bit soapy in the finish; medium body, slick mouthfeel; good, but not really that great. Poured from a 12 OZ bottle into a pint glass. The appearance is a clear copper to orange color. Has a medium sized white head. The aroma is all hops with some citrus. The taste is a big hop rush with some citrus at the end. An outstanding beer.
