Bottle. Hazy dark orange. Fray white head. Grapefruit rind. Orange. Tropical. Peach. Some pine. Moderate plus bitterness. Moderate sweetness. Lighter medium body. Dry and a bit earthy, spicy, and almost chalky. A lot of flavor elements. Its better when its not over analyzed.

Pint at Fountainheads. Pours amber with a lacy, cream-colored head. Aroma of citrusy and floral hops, caramel malts, and a little spiciness. Flavor the same, with enough hops to make me feel like it’s an IPA. Smooth texture. A pretty good beer.

3.3 AROMA 6/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 6/10 PALATE 2/5 OVERALL 15/20
On tap at Taco Mac. Pours copper with a small head. The aroma is caramel, orange rinds, and some earthy notes. The flavor is pleasantly bitter, with a good malt backbone. The palate is light to medium and uneventful. This is a good IPA, but doesn’t really stand out.

3.3 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 5/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 14/20
12oz bottle poured into a shaker at 42°. Color is a deep gold with a slight haze. Carbonation is good giving a small white head that’s a bit loose on the edge and very tight in the center. Aroma is a light pine and citrus scent peaking out of a sweet caramel malt base. It has a medium body with a light crisp mouth feel. Flavor comes in with citrus and a touch of pine, then a mellow malt shows on the back end giving it a faint fruit note. After taste is bitter letting the citrus build up and hang on. Overall its a nice IPA, evenly balanced and easy to drink but not as complex and bold as the brewer claims it to be.

3.9 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 8/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 18/20
UPDATED: FEB 16, 2013 Pours a murky amber with a slight white head and oodles of lacing. Citrusy resiny west coast classic nose. Flavors of orange, pine and bong water. Medium bodied with a long hoppy, but not overly bitter, finish. A fine single IPA.

3.2 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 6/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 12/20
This is a really attractive pour - a crystal clear golden amber with a thick creamy beige head that leaves a soapy cap and delicate lacing on the sides.
Aroma is a mixture of light sweet citrus and floral notes. There is some pineapple and mango with some lemongrass and pine resin. The malts are also present with a light doughy bread character.
Taste is less citrusy than the aroma, though there is a hoppy bitterness up front. It just doesn’t take on much citrus flavor. The malts are more prevalent than in the aroma and there is caramel malts and some toasted bread in the background. The finish is bitter with pine resin lingering with some alcohol burn.
Mouthfeel is lively with strong carbonation and spritzy and bitter in the finish.
This is a decent IPA but the bitterness is a little too much considering the lack of underlying hop flavors. OK.

3.8 AROMA 8/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 15/20
Bottled. Super hazy/chunky yellowed-brown with a giant, light tan head. Big pine cone aroma with sweet grapefruit and orange rind - generally heavy on the citrus fruits but with a definite spruce front end. Heavily bitter flavor, one that grows slightly in intensity through the flavor profile, will a little white malt backbone, but don’t kid yourself - this is hop centric, big time. A bit of white pepper in the finish, which ends just a touch watery (which, surprisingly, is a bit refreshing).

3.9 AROMA 8/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 8/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 15/20
On tap at my local hang out. Sold as Hop Notch, but apparently its the same thing. Served in a shaker pint. Poured orange with a slight haze and a one finger white head. Good amount of lace. Heavy pine resin and grapefruit aroma. Taste also features a good amount of sharp hop bite. Mostly pine and citrus. Malts are there, but they’re hiding under the bed, in fear of their lives. Full in the mouth with a resinous coating on the tongue. Finish is quite bitter. Been drinking a lot of this lately.
