COMMERCIAL DESCRIPTION
Formerly known as Hop Notch. Wonderful complex flavos, like no other, simply a great tasting IPA. It’s balanced, strong malt backbone, citrusy nose, with hints of pine and grass.

Has a nice pine/grapefruit bite on the initial front end. Mellows on the middle and has a nice tang at the back end. Very strong IPA.

this is a very amazing beer the aroma is a sweet pinapple citrus with a hint of pine. it is a golden amber with nice white head the diminishes to quick but leaves a nice lacing. the flavor is very hoppy with some piney notes and citrus towrds the end. I know this is a good beer when i burp and it taste and smells just as good as the brew itself. this is a great ipa.

Pours a dark orange color with finger and a half tannish white head that goes down slowly and leaves a blanket of lacing. Smells of light grapefruit, some pine, some grass, oranges, a resinous quality to it, some light bready notes as well as some carmel sweetness. Taste is pretty much like the smell. It starts with grapefruit, oranges, and lemon. Then the malt comes in and balances the beer fairly well. Lots of sweet breadiness. Then the hops of the more bitter variety come back. Lots of resinous pine, as well as some grapefruit and oranges. Nice creamy and smooth mouthfeel to accompany the resinous hops. Medium body. The bitterness lingers after each sip. Wouldn’t mind getting this again. Decent ipa that comes in cans.

UPDATED: JAN 19, 2013 12oz bottle. Standard orange colored IPA with thin white head. Hops are quite noticeable, but take a backseat to the malt profile. More of a piney hop flavor and a bit stinky in the nose once it warms. Meh, it’s okay. ---Rated via Beer Buddy for iPhone

Pours a dark hay or light amber. Minimal head. Some chill haze? Smells much better than it looks. Some malt there but predominately citrusy hops- grapefruit, orange zest. Medium mouthfeel, bracing. Residual sweetness and smackability in the finish. Mostly hop-forward. Feels a little unbalanced to me but I like it. May re-rate taste as it warms. Not bad at all!

12oz bottle poured into a large Duvel tulip glass. Pours a clear golden color with about a one finger head after a semi aggressive pour. It must be my sinuses acting up but I the aroma is very muted on this beer. I get more of the malt instead of the usual hop aroma. The taste though is more balanced. The malt comes through at the beginning but the the floral, resiny pine comes through at the end and lingers in the aftertaste. There’s no alcohol burn on this beer even though it clocks in at over 7% abv. I could see myself throwing back several of these on a warm summer day.

A pretty good IPA, but what I like about it is its balance, rather than any one interesting or defining characteristic. Agree with some other comments that what I"m calling balance could come across as undefined. That’s a flaw for a IPA, which I think is a type of beer that by nature should have some type of distinct hop note to it. Still, very drinkable, and the bitterness is a pleasant one. . . just leaves me wishing for something to define it. When Green Flash says "taste it once, remember it forever" you know what that means. . . by that standard, this one is not memorable.

I have enjoyed a handful of these (on separate occasions) before getting around to rating it. I find its a very serviceable IPA, solid hopiness and good malt balance. there is nothing that stands out as fantastic, but its really good none the less.

Hay, caramel and vanilla smells. Taste of slight bitterness and a nice hoppy palate. Very good beer!
