Formerly known as Hop Notch. Wonderful complex flavos, like no other, simply a great tasting IPA. Itís balanced, strong malt backbone, citrusy nose, with hints of pine and grass.

Bottle. Pours a clear dark copper body with a one finger frothy white head that left a little lacing. The nose is fresh and bright with citrusy hops and some toasted malt with a light caramel sweetness. The flavor shows a bit of residual sweetness from what I think is crystal malt. Normally a turn-off for me, but itís pretty minimal in this instance, letting the hops show through and do their thing. The finish is still a bit sweet for my tastes, but there is still a decent amount of lingering bitterness. Medium bodied with a slight clingy sweetness yet enough bitterness to scrub it away. Fizzy prickly carbonation aids the bitterness. Pretty decent drinker, but not something Iíd seek out again.

Draught @ Beer Revolution, Oakland. Rated on 19.10.2012.
Pours a hazy orange colour with a white lacy head. Aroma of caramel, mandarin orange and grassy hops. Flavour of strong bitter hops, pine, lemongrass and bread-like maltiness. Medium bodied, slick mouthfeel and a bitter, slightly sweet finish. Decent.

Pours orange-amber with an off-white head. Lots of grapefruit in the nose, other citrus and some pine as well. Taste is grapefruit, pine, a hint of bready malt. Fairly creamy with a drying resinous bitter finish. Pretty solid hop-forward IPA.

Part of a tasting at crowns and corks. Smooth easy a bit too malty for an ipa. Overall ok beer but could be a bit more bitter.

A good though not exceptional IPA, on tap at Caponeís Restaurant. Big IBU, fruity and orange. Spider lace. Decent drinkability, however some bleach in the finish.

Bottle. Pours a nice deep orange with a medium white head that dissipated quickly, nice lacing though. Nose is slightly malty, but then pineapple and resinous hops. Medium bodied and surprisingly fresh tasting for a bottle of IPA that is probably 2 months past its prime (bottled in August of 2012), with some grapefruity notes mingled with the malts and some tropical fruit, then a lingering bitter finish. Nice IPA.

Hop and malt balance is perfect. Alcohol comes through appropriately. Finish is not overly bitter, very nice. ---Rated via Beer Buddy for iPhone

Bottle. Best before: 04/20/13. A clear amber pour with a smallish beige head. A fine aroma of juicy oranges, grapefruits, faint pineapple, caramel, and pine trees. Relatively medium-bodied on the way down. Caramel, a light biscuity presence, and some hints of buttered bread upfront taste-wise. Grapefruits, oranges, and zesty citrus rinds are plentiful towards the end. The alcohol is well-hidden. Nicely balanced. Well-done. A standard for the style.
