COMMERCIAL DESCRIPTION
Named after the highest point in the State of Utah at 13,528 feet, Kings Peak is located in the Uinta Mountains, a major east-west mountain range in northeastern Utah. Kings Peak Porter lives up to its name by being big on flavor and complexity. It pours a rich, dark mahogany hue and is complimented by a creamy tan-colored head. Dark chocolate, toasted malt, and coffee may be detected in its nose.

Tap at The Bayou, SLC. Very dark brown beer with a thin tan head. The aroma is intensely chocolatey with a lovely caramel/toffee sweetness behind as well. Flavour is quite chocolatey with a dark roasty bitterness. A fairly herbal component throughout as well. Dry roasty finish. Decent malt complexity. Solid porter.

Single bottle purchased from a Utah State Liquor Store in Kimball Junction, Utah on 11/03/2012. Colour: Extremely dark brown with sizeable head. Nose: Burnt coffee, asphalt, very very dark cocoa, traces of over-ripe plum, and even some late almond. Taste: Medium-light sweet, medium-light bitter, medium-light sour. Charcoal, hint of root beer, late burnt bitterness but it just doesn’t pack the punch that a solid porter should. Mostly bark, not a whole lot of bite.

Bottle from Mari’s. Pours black with some light coming through. There is limited head and minor carbonation. The aroma is lactic with some semblance of light chocolate notes. Decent roasted taste but there is a slight aftertaste.. some coffee in there. Watery. Not a great porter..

Roasty malt aroma and flavor; kind of chocolate-y, and sort of a "burnt" character (I mean that in a good way). Well balanced with some caramel and sweet flavors. Moderate bitterness. A little astringent, maybe? Maybe my favorite American Porter.

A clear dark brown colored beer, with a thick foamy beige head. The aroma of coffee malt, with a little roasted malt. The taste of a little coffee with dark malts. The aftertaste is sweet with bitter roasted malt.

The aroma is very weak. Smells of coffee and malty. Pours a dark brown with tan head that leaves quickly and does not leave any lacing. Taste is malty with a black coffee after taste. Overall to bad. A little thin and not much to look at.

Bottle found in my beer fridge of unknown origin. A well constructed porter. Sweet and full of goodness. Easily drinkable and not distracting. On the darker side with just the right ammout of coffee for my liking. Easy finish a bit on the watery side.
