COMMERCIAL DESCRIPTION
Named after the highest point in the State of Utah at 13,528 feet, Kings Peak is located in the Uinta Mountains, a major east-west mountain range in northeastern Utah. Kings Peak Porter lives up to its name by being big on flavor and complexity. It pours a rich, dark mahogany hue and is complimented by a creamy tan-colored head. Dark chocolate, toasted malt, and coffee may be detected in its nose.

Tap at The Bayou, SLC. Very dark brown beer with a thin tan head. The aroma is intensely chocolatey with a lovely caramel/toffee sweetness behind as well. Flavour is quite chocolatey with a dark roasty bitterness. A fairly herbal component throughout as well. Dry roasty finish. Decent malt complexity. Solid porter.

Pours a dark brown with a light tan head leaving little lacing. Little aroma. Metallic taste with a bit of coffee and light malty taste. Not a great beer, average porter.

Bottle poured. Dark brown pour. Aroma is faint. Malts and chocolate. Taste is chocolate, and roasted malts. Metallic aftertaste and thin. Carbonation is off. Not that good from a great brewery.

12 ounce bottle from Beer Run, 11/18/14. Pours a dark brown color with a medium sized foamy dark brown head. Good head retention. Aroma of dark roast, dark chocolate and a bit of brine. The taste is roasted malts, chocolate, mild citrus hops and faint hints of tea. A little thin.

12oz bottle pours a dark brown color with a bit of head. Roasted malt flavors that finish quickly leaving some hop bitterness that lingers. Peanuts.

Maxbier (388) - Maryland, USA - NOV 13, 2014
Dark brown, dense tan head. Roasted aroma with a hint of cocoa. Light mouth feel, plenty of roasted malt flavor. Not a hoppy porter; just enough bittering hops to keep it balanced. Tastes higher than 4%, tasty session porter. ---Rated via Beer Buddy for iPhone

Pours brown with amber tint and a creamy tan head. Roasted malt aroma with coffee and cocoa. Flavor starts off with a dry roasted malt, some smokiness. Cocoa and coffee with a slight sweetness. Finishes with a roastiness and slight hops. Bit of a thin mouthfeel. This is a fine porter.

This porter was okay but the body was too thin and there was not enough complexity with the flavors and aromas. Looks nice with a big frothy tan head. Iím sure this would be much better with a lot more oomph if the ABV wasnít limited to 4%.

12 oz bottle into a pint glass. A: Pours a dark ruby color lacking in opacity. The head is a two finger mocha shade. It retains itself nicely, and leaves behind some spotty lacing. S: As expected, itís rather mild here. Some light piny hops, a touch of chocolate, and a mild minty note make up the majority of the aroma. Whatís there is decent, but there just isnít much to begin with. T: For a 4% porter, this is really damn good. It starts with a wave of herbal, piny hop bitterness, and finishes with some pleasant dark chocolate and coffee flavors. Though itís simple, itís quite savorable, which is downright incredible for 4%. M: This has a good body for something so ílightí. Itís also very clean, if not quite as dry as Iíd like/expect. Drinkability isnít superb, I must say. However, this means that just a little will go a long way. O: I could genuinely session this. Normally, when I come across a lightweight beer like this, my first thought is to see how quick I could chug it down, order another one, and repeat until Iím spraying puke on the poor soul next to me. This one, on the other hand, actually has some decent flavor, ergo I kind of donít want to kill it in 4.3 seconds. And there we go, this is a session beer done right. Now if only it werenít priced like the average porter 6 pack...
