COMMERCIAL DESCRIPTION
European tradition meets western modernity with Monkshine, an approachable adaptation of the classic style brewed in Belgian monasteries. Rejoice, fellow admirers of Belgian ales, for there is Four+ Monkshine.

Bottle courtesy of douglas88. Pours amber with a thin white head. Smells of sweet malt, sugary. Tastes dry with some straw, hay, grassy elements. Touches of spiciness. Decent.

Well I feel bad as I have sent a few of these out in trades as extras, mostly just as a novelty. Just a bit of flavor. Really difficult to create something that is close to a Belgian Ale in Utah.

Bottle (2003 or 2004) ... Cloudy golden ale with a mid-sized, tissue paper-like, white head. Good retention. Estery, phenolic, yeasty aroma dictates fruitcake, cinnamon, biscuit, clove, apple, pear, coriander and honey notes. Medium-bodied with an extremely drying mouthfeel. Fruity flavor is very low on residual sweetness and, but offers a tempered bitterness. Citric and moderately tart with a grassy note of clover. Tangy, Sahara-dry finish sucks all the moisture from my head. Over attenuated? Strange, interesting brew! Kudos go out to maniac for shipping the bottle my way!

FROTHINGSLOSH (4971) - GREENSBURG, Pennsylvania, USA - DEC 18, 2007
This beer came in my beer club. Sampled from a 12 oz brown bottle this beer poured a cloudy golden color with a medium sized white head. The aroma was sweet, sugary a bit yeasty and had a ripe fruit element. The flavor was sweet, tangy, yeasty and moderately fruity. Fairly full bodied. Nice.

UPDATED: JAN 2, 2009 Bottle. Pours a light gold with a decent head. The flavor is smooth fruit with a earthy malt. A bit hoppy and spicy. A decent brew, too light though. Relaxing and smooth, just too thin. This rating is for the older 4% version, and the beer has changed a good bit since then.

Bottle. Poured a slighly hazy golden color with a thick white head. Strong lacing. Aroma is fruity with a bit of coriander. Flavor is light but nice. It is fruity with a banana Now and Later taste to it. Coriander is present in the aftertaste. I imagine this to be a very nice summer session beer.

Smells ike a belgian wit. Flavor is also quite wheaty, but with a little dry hoppiness in the finish. Decent. Just not great.

Bottle. Pours a clear gold with moderate carbonation. Smells a bit of wheat and banana. Taste is sweet with a bit of fruit and some alcohol. Finishes a bit dry. Very drinkable.

Poured a light golden color, no head. Aroma was mostly banana as was the flavor. Carbonation was mild and the body seemed thin and easy to drink, still decent though.

This tastes a lot like Troeg’s Dream Weaver. Flavor is more of a hefeweizen. Nice flavor of banana, clove, with a hint of root beer. Big head, Decent.
