Robust and smooth, this full-flavored lager is exceptionably drinkable and pitch black in color.

Bottle from wegmans. Pours semi see through black with a small off white head. The aroma has light milk chocolate, some roast, light coffee. The taste is roasty, light sweetness, pretty decent. Fairly thin.

Aroma of coffee, oats, dark chocolate. Pours a pitch black with a tiny white head. Tastes of extra dark chocolate, cocoa, vanilla bean. Nice crisp offering for any time of year.

From a bottle. Smokey with coffee notes. Not a fan of dark beers. This reminded me why.

Pours a deep black with a foamy tan head and lacing. It has a nice aroma of toast, dark malt, and a bit of chocolate. The flavor is dark malt and some toast up front with a sweet and slightly chocolatey middle and finish. ---Rated via Beer Buddy for iPhone

12oz bottle. Pours a deep black color, with a two finger fizzy tan head, which leaves some sticky lacing behind. The nose is malty, slight hop note, with some nice little chocolate notes. The taste is sweet, malty, very slight hop note, and caramel. Medium body, nice carbonation, with a nice crisp feel.

UPDATED: OCT 9, 2013 Underwhelming all around. I try to enjoy lagers for what they are but this is a style that just does not appeal to me. Poured very dark and impressive, with a small, light head and very little aroma. Sharp carbonation, light coffee and roasted flavor. But very light all around in contrast to the color. Not a lot of mouthfeel, not a lot of anything. Would I drink again? no.

Bottle at the Great British Beer Festival 2013. Poured a dark ruby with a thick, dense off white head. Aroma of dark malt, caramel and light coffee. Flavours of dark fruit, milk chocolate and cereal. Light mouthfeel. Leaves with some grassy hops, molasses and maple syrup.

Bottled. Pours black with a big brown head. Smells and tastes smoked meat, coffee and roasted malt and abit bitter with a similar finish.

On tap at Bottle Revolution (Raleigh). Pours a dark brown with light brown head. Taste is kind of tart (nowhere near sour), but well worth sipping on. ---Rated via Beer Buddy for iPhone

Can sample at a tasting at Dancing Camel. Thanks zvikar. Black with a big tan head. Nice aroma of roasted grains, a bit of coffee and some toasted bread. Flavor has a bit of roastiness, some smokiness, coffee hints, a bit of caramel notes and a dry finish. Medium-bodied.
