Robust and smooth, this full-flavored lager is exceptionably drinkable and pitch black in color.

Bottle to glass. Dark black pour with a khaki head. Smell is intense roasted malt, hazelnut, soy sauce? Taste is strange. Roasted malt again and sweet nuttiness, but a strange watery bubbly mouth feel. Not unpleasant, just awkward.

Opaque black - brown beer with a tidy pale tan - cream coloured head. Palate starts soft but has robust minerally carbonation. Somewhat insipid dark malt with a lactose and a vague soapy note. A suggestion of some citric hop, well buried. Minerally dry finish. Doesn’t bring a lot to the table!

Nice aroma on this beer, I get chocolate, vanilla, caramel, roast character, also smells somewhat tannin. Tastes of bitter chocolate, vanilla, coffee, I do get a tannic dry flavor.

8/29/2013: Uinta Organic Baba Black Lager... Aroma: Really nice bouquet of roasted malts (chocolate, black patent); inviting black lager. Appearance: Cola brown color with a bubbly tan-colored head. Flavor: Tempered roasty malt (black patent) and accompanying bitterness; reminds me a bit of weak coffee; slightly nutty; crisp and clean. Palate: Medium-light, well-carbonated, smooth. Overall: Aroma is a bit better than the flavor, but it’s still flavorful, yet controlled and mellow; enjoyable and low alcohol is a plus.

12 fl. oz. bottle (Best Before 02/02/14) from Jungle Jim’s in Fairfield, Ohio. Rating #277 for this beer.

Murky black. 2 finger cream colored head. Nose is half and half with some oak and barley. Nothing crazy. Interesting actually. Sweet with some lactose and vanilla. Cream and coffee and roaster notes. Not bad.

12oz bottle. Smooth brown chocolate and black malt aroma. Very easy on the palate, medium bodied, very sessionable. Really nailing the style, this is quite an enjoyable beer. Easy, bready, smooth. Quality malt tones. Straightforward and well executed.

Bottle. Dark chocolate, coffee and a little smoke on the back end. Grains and a slight herbal bitterness. This one is good. Very good.

12 ounce bottle. Best by 11/3/13. Pours a darker brown with a huge khaki colored head of foam. Pretty good retention. Webby lacing. The aroma has raosty, toffee-ish notes. Some chocolate. There is a faint licorice nuance in here as well. Medium bitterness with a lighter sweet side that fades quickly. Heavier carbonation tingling on the tongue. Very roasty, bitter finish.

A n opaque black body with a tan head, which had good retention and nice lace. Aroma had a nice roasted malt presence upfront. There was notes of smoke and even the presence of leather. Mildly reminiscent of a imperial stout. Flavor was similar. Mouth feel was on the light side, but i think that is the trust behind this style. Slightly dry in the finish.
