Iíve seen this on the shelves here for quite awhile now, and finally picked some up last week. 12oz bottle poured into a stemmed lager glass. Pours a deep black, like a stout. Small beige head on top that dissipates very quickly. Aroma of hot chocolate, dry husky grains, graham crackers. Easy subtle feel. Though this beer looks heavy, it is very light on the palate. Almost too easy to drink this one. Heavy-hitting roasted chocolate flavors present. Sweet mellow flavors meld with a dry cracker finish. Cereal grains on the back end. This little beer packs on the flavor. This is organic too? Nice. A nice little beer here. This is a style that is underrated in my mind, and one I need to revisit more and more. Cool label art to boot.

On tap at Anthill Pub in Irvine, CA. Definitely black with a light tan head. Good carbonation keeps it feeling fuller than the thin body would indicate. Really nice dark roasted malt flavor with a light cocoa flavor. Leaves a dry slightly woody taste behind. Very nice, very sessionable.

Just good. No reason not to make this a goto front porch sitter. Its what shiner black tried to be.

Bottle sampled at Classic City Brew Fest 2014. Pours a translucent brownish black with fluffy tan head. Aroma is done dark roast with underlying soy and fruity lager esters. Taste is a hint sweeter with a dirty back end. Meh.

Great embossed bottle and label - stellar cap. Aroma has two distinct personalities - freshly opened and then warmed. Freshly opened, the aroma is all about toasted soy, damp dog and slight roast. Warmed, the aroma is much sweeter, and the roast comes through more with slight creosote. Mouth and flavor are extremely smooth - mouthy, frothy, good roast, lightly sweet, only roast bittering. Fine-grained carbo. Pencil shavings and roast on the backend. Havenít had anything from Uinta yet that I didnít want another of. ABC, Betton.

Black pour with a small tan head. Aroma of roasted black malt with a dash of earthy cocoa. Light bodied brew with a flavor of dark chocolate, and earthy burnt roast. Dry and light and not my style.

This was shared with Strykzone on Facebook Chat. Pours a dark brown almost black with a good sized tan head. Moderate lacing. Nose of burnt malt with a mix of grassy and citrus hops. Medium in body. Smooth lager style mouth feel. Flavor is chocolate, and some hops shows in the taste as well. The finish is an earthy burnt bitterness with residual citrus. Decent. More hops would help.

Poured from bottle. Nice molasses and burnt malt aroma. Solid black with a bit of head. I taste chocolate and roasted malt with some lager hops. Low carbonation makes this ridiculously easy to drink. Good, but could use flavor and body.

Sampled at AC Beerfest (2014). Poured a dark brown/almost black color with a small foamy tan head. Aroma of smoke, roasted malt, and caramel. Taste is on the sweet side. Roasted malt, sugar, sweet chocolate, caramel, and smoke.

6 pack of cans best before August 24, 2014. Pours a nice deep, dark hue. Pitch black is obviously an exaggeration, but itís well within style. This smells like itís gonna be a solid shwarzbier. Itís roasty, a little nutty with mild hints at toffee and latte and a nice crispness. The mouthfeel is lighter, but Baba is still complex and flavorful. Uinta has a knack for making these 4% abv beers really satisfying. The flavor is nutty, with hints at cacao, instant coffee, wafers, toffee and an earthy, but milky finish. I poured this guy into a goblet for a better tasting experience, but I totally want to put a coozie on one of these bad boys and sip it on a warm spring day. Very drinkable, very clean. The only shortcoming here at all is that after a full glass, it does seem a little waterier than a top notch black lager. Still, theyíve done a stand up job with this to comply with the crazy Utah laws.
