2.7 AROMA 6/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 6/10 PALATE 2/5 OVERALL 10/20
UPDATED: APR 4, 2014 Serving: from tap at Zippy’s Giant Hamburgers.
Aroma: lightly, sweet, roasty malt.
Appearance: small, frothy, light-brown, initial head with fair lacing and fully diminishing longevity. Dark-brown/black body.
Taste: lightly sweet, roasty initial flavor with lightly sweet, smokey finish with toothpaste-like aftertaste and average duration.
Palate: medium body with watery texture and soft carbonation.
Overall: the first time I drank this, I thought it was excellent, the second time it didn’t seem very good, he third time may be the last.

Nice roasty aroma. great lager taste up front. coffee flavors on the back end are wonderful. The beer is ruined by a slight metallic aftertaste.

3.6 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 8/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 13/20
Can from Bottles & Cans. Served in a footed pilsner glass. Bready chocolate syrup aroma think Nestle Qwick. Great black pour with a thick solid beige head of foam. It has a medium body and a soft mouthfeel with a round carbonation. The taste is a pleasant soft cocoa powder with chewy bready dark malts. Pretty good.

3 AROMA 6/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 6/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 12/20
Pours a dark brown with mahogany highlights. Nice mix of dark malts and with a bitter finish. I think this is well made, but I didn’t really enjoy it.

3.8 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 8/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 17/20
12 oz. bottle from Berkeley Bowl West. It pours a dark cola brown color with a tan head. The aroma is pumpernickel bread with some coffee and smoke. The flavor is the same. LIght bodied with smoke, bread, coffee and light caramel. It has a bready, spicy bitter finish. Really tasty. Well done.

3.3 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 13/20
Pretty solid black lager. Very malt forward with some light roast and hops present. Slightly dry with a little caramel as well. Pretty good version of a hardto nail style."

3.8 AROMA 8/10 APPEARANCE 5/5 TASTE 8/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 13/20
Bottle. Pours a cola color with a thick beige head. Coffee nose. Seems sweet for a lager but good flavor with the coffee notes coming through and bitterness both from hops and malt. A bit chalky end but overall very good and by far my favorite from Uinta.

3.4 AROMA 8/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 6/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 13/20
Pours an espresso black with light, toffee colored head. Nose is caramel, light chocolate and malt. Enters with crispness into the palate where mild hops make their presence known alongside the more expected roasted malts.
Pleasing and clean with mild bitterness, not a favorite but tasty and interesting.
