Aroma is a little subtle, but rings of espresso and cacao. The malt is indeed black, rendering the beer a nearly opaque color in the glass. Despite the high caramelization in the malt, the beer finishes cleanly but gives you a moment to savor the work they put into it. Definitely a beer for those who like this style, but it will even appease those with preferences for something lighter. ---This rating is likely a compilation of my and my roommates' musings over our latest beer pick up. Pretty solid black lager. Very malt forward with some light roast and hops present. Slightly dry with a little caramel as well. Pretty good version of a hardto nail style."

Bottle. Pours a cola color with a thick beige head. Coffee nose. Seems sweet for a lager but good flavor with the coffee notes coming through and bitterness both from hops and malt. A bit chalky end but overall very good and by far my favorite from Uinta.

Pours an espresso black with light, toffee colored head. Nose is caramel, light chocolate and malt. Enters with crispness into the palate where mild hops make their presence known alongside the more expected roasted malts. Pleasing and clean with mild bitterness, not a favorite but tasty and interesting. ---Rated via Beer Buddy for iPhone
