COMMERCIAL DESCRIPTION
European tradition meets western modernity with Monkshine, an approachable adaptation of the classic style brewed in Belgian monasteries. Rejoice, fellow admirers of Belgian ales, for there is Four+ Monkshine.

Thanks to Santa for sending this one along. It is a decent example of the style but lacks the refinement of other breweries who focus solely on Belgians. With a little more work it could turn into a regional representation of the style but as it stands this one can be skipped unless you like hunting down everything Belgian.

Aroma / Appearance - A flat lifeless head soon collapsed into the carbonated golden body. Right away something was slightly off though I could not put a finger on what it was. The nose of slightly sour apples, crisp bananas, and vanilla was open and airy so at least the aroma is not dull.

Flavor / Palate - Fading fast it took quite a few sips to get a handle on the honey, hay, apple, and dried banana chips that compose this beer’s primary taste profile. Clean and simple the alcohol is well hidden. It takes a while to figure out as well; don’t make judgements based on the first two sips or you may be surprised to find it better than you thought.

Crushed with Jakebra. Woo! Poopy bananas, hay, sour malt on the nose. Not very good in the flavor, though it is a slight improvement. Not a good beer.
