European tradition meets western modernity with Monkshine, an approachable adaptation of the classic style brewed in Belgian monasteries. Rejoice, fellow admirers of Belgian ales, for there is Four+ Monkshine.

I like this better than most it seems. Pours a Yellow clear color with real small carbonation showing. Head disipates but a slight lace remains. Nice Belgian style nose, some fruit. Great taste with hints of clove, sweetness, fruit. Very drinkable, and would drink more if I had the foresight to buy more!

Poured a hazy dark gold color with a small off-white head. Almost has a leathery wild aroma to it. Yeasty spice notes. Dusty with a bready malt. Fruity with a some banana and citrus to start and banana and spice for a long finish. Sweetness on the middle. Semi-dry finish with almost a medium body. Light warming sensation.

Bottle. Clear yellow pour with moderate white head. Fruity yeasty nose with notes of bananas and oranges. Bitter hop finish, but mostly cloying and oddly floral. Terrible label. Tolerable beer.

Hazy orange pour with a foamy head. Fruit and yeast in the aroma. Flavor is a bit sweet and fruity, and very pleasant at first. But about halfway through my second bottle, something strange happened. A weird plasticy flavor took over that I could not get rid of. Even going to something else and coming back to this didnít help. Anyway, it started out well enough, and I will try again next time Iím in UT.

Hazy yllow-orange with frothy white head. Full, soft and smooth texture. Cakey, chalky malts. Doughy, estery yeast. Earthy, herbal and spicy. Many delicate things going on in the background. Lemon, clove, honey, white pepper, and a mild bitterness. Pleasant beer.

I was a bit surprised by this one. I was expecting something like Corsendonk and this isnít like it at all. This is a very light, very effervescent, and very dry beer. Would go well with grilled fish I think. Got a bit of clove and maybe some other spice. Canít hate at all.

Bottle thanks to douglas88. Pours a golden yellow with lots of bubbles and a small sticky white head. The aroma is very bready with lots of yeast, a little bit of banana, and some distant clove and zest hints. The flavor is mellow grain and yeast with a little bit of spice and zest. There are some strawberry and apple notes in the middle before a moderately dry finish with some pepper and alcohol notes. Not bad.

On tap-Judges Bench Clear golden pour w/a good size foamy head. Classic sweet, doughy aroma of a Belgian Blond. Medium sweetness w/some colander/spice, bread dough, wheat, white pepper, & banana. I thought this was quite good, a very pleasant surprise. This could easily be an everyday drinker. Alcohol was well hidden, long spiced wheat finish. Seems very underrated to me.

Tap - hazy, dark gold beer - a little bit of soapy lace - aroma of banana/strong phenols, wheat, honey, apple - medium body, fairly smooth in the mouth - fairly sweet, with a lot of phenolic character that almost takes over the beer - thankfully, more depth develops to make it less noticeable - there is some wheaty tang, honey sweetness, bready character, cloves - it dries out a bit late, and some grassy hops come out, but remain understated - decent - certainly much better than itís rating suggests.

Hazy amber appearance with a small, off white head and a small amount of lacing. Muted, spicy aroma paired with a honeyish sweetness. Fruity, spicy flavors offset by a metallic aftertaste. Medium bodied, decently carbonated mouthfeel with an average length finish. Was hoping for a little more depth and complexity, but had to settle for mediocrity.
