2.9 AROMA 5/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 6/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 12/20
Draught at Papago Brewing Co., Scottsdale, AZ
Deep blond color. It’s a simple one, with very light aroma, but the flavor has some of the Belgian spiciness, and correct bitterness.

3.5 AROMA 6/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 14/20
A: The beer pours a fairly clear golden color with a finger or so of white head on top.
S: Lots of malt sweetness to the nose, especially the caramel notes. Plenty of toast and bready malt as well. There is a surprisingly chocolatey aroma despite the pale color. There is a hint of spice to it.
T: Sweet bread and toasted malts with a mild spiciness. Some toasted marshmallow type flavor which was unexpected but quite delicious. And there is the same mild spice character that existed on the nose.
M: Medium in body with a moderate level of carbonation.
O: Wasn’t expecting much from this beer but found it to be fairly good.

3.1 AROMA 5/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 13/20
Bright amber-copper colour. Caramelly, metallic, slightly earthy aroma with a hint of pear. The flavour is moderate in intensity, balanced between fruity (pear, peach), phenolic (slight bubblegum) and light background earthy maltiness. Carbonation is fairly brisk. The finish dies out into a metallic dryness. Though the appearance and aroma have me thinking a De Koninck clone, it didn’t turn out that way at all. The esters don’t always mesh cohesively with the earthier, more metallic notes, but they do lend a lively complexity.

3.3 AROMA 5/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 6/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 14/20
Bottle from douglas88, or if not, from ericandersnavy. Thanks to both you guys. Indeed it does seem to have a hefe aroma. Hazy gold color with a slight white head. Medium plus body with sharpish carbonation. Flavor is typical Belgian, but more so than usual. There’s a big dose of kandi, clove, hot spice bits, and arguably even banana. Finish is pretty dry, and the pepper notes stick around. It’s a good one.
