Harvest the flavors of fall with a bottle opener and a stroll down the craft-brewed beer aisle. Four+ Punk’n Ale is the pick of the crop with notes of roasted pumpkin and seasonal spices. Savory. Crisp. The sweetness is in the celebration, not on the palate.

Typical Uinta offering. Still it’s a bit better than New Holland’s Ichabod, with a slight bit of cinnamon and spice hints (still though, nothing special). The best things about this beer might be the name and the pretty bottle.

If this is what pumpkin beer is supposed to taste like count me out. Insipid body and flavor, followed by no grip or structure. Overall, a dud.

Buoy shaped bottle. Clear, intense copper color, slight white head. Sweet spice aroma... Reminds me of pickled peaches. Dry, biscuity, woody. OK, not great. ABC Liquors, Betton.

Orange amber colored pour. Small off white head. Little lacing. Big spicy pumpkin pie aroma. Taste is the same with some maple and malt notes.

Bottle: The aroma consists of moderate caramel, nutmeg, ginger, clove, and light cinnamon. It pours a transparent amber with a two finger soapy off-white head that has decent retention. There’s a good amount of soapy lacing left on the sides of the glass. The flavor starts with caramel and light roasted pumpkin. The finish has light nutmeg, ginger, clove, and a touch of cinnamon. It’s light-medium bodied with light-moderate carbonation. Overall, a decent pumpkin ale, but I wish the flavor was as strong as the aroma.

Pours translucent copper into the glass, with a foamy eggshell head that leaves webbed lace. The nose is of pumpkin meat and pie spices. Flavors are dough, pumpkin, Allspice, nutmeg and cinnamon. The finish closes on these pie spices. The smooth mouthfeel is perfect for autumn, with soft carbonation, complexity without being cloying, and substance via a round medium body. All-in-all, a decent pumpkin ale for sure.

12 ounce can thanks to drsilverworm. Pours a somewhat hazy copper with a beige head of foam. Good retention. The aroma is mild spices and pie crust. The taste is doughy and spicy. I particularly pick up on cinnamon and nutmeg. Creamy mouthfeel. Moderate carbonation.

Transfer from BA review on 8-29-12 - Poured from bottle into pint glass Appearance – Pours a medium orange color with a one finger orange tinted head. The head has great retention but does eventually fade to leave a great amount of lacing. Smell – Up front was a spicy malt aroma. The malt was of lightly roasted malt with the spice being that of what would be expected of a pumpkin pie – cinnamon and nutmeg. A lighter but ever present even pumpkin smell is mixed with these. While the pumpkin aroma is somewhat artificial in nature, it actually blends well with the other smells giving an overall rather nice aroma. Taste – The taste begins of pumpkin and lightly roasted malt. These flavors are soon met with some of the spices in the nose. Cinnamon and nutmeg come through and meld with the roasted malt and pumpkin to give a spiced pumpkin flavor. Until now the flavor was rather dry, but at the middle a light brown sugar sweetness comes to the tongue and rounds out the flavor profile. This sweetness however fades once again to leave a slightly more dry and unsweetened spiced pumpkin flavor on the tongue. Mouthfeel – The beer is rather thin in body and the carbonation level is rather high. While the carbonation level does make it more refreshing, the beer could really use a boost of body. Like a pumpkin pie or pumpkin squash a creamy body really is much nicer for the pumpkin and spice flavors. Overall – The flavors are on the lighter side and the sweetness is somewhat low as well giving it a light and crisp flavor. Ii you want a session pumpkin then this may be it.

Rated from notes taken 1 Nov 2013 -- Tough to recall specifics, but I remember not being thrilled with this. Just a standard pumpkin.
