Solstice Kölsch Style Ale is named for the lighter-style ales originating in the city of Cologne, Germany, whose history of brewing dates back to 874. Cologne’s beers differed from neighboring German beers in that they were top fermenting beers, versus bottom fermenting. A modern Kölsch was as defined in 1986 by the Kölsch Konvention as being pale, hop-accented, top fermented, and filtered. Solstice defines the style! Uinta chose the name Solstice to acknowledge the sunny disposition of the beer and to celebrate the changing of the seasons.

Uinta HooDoo Kolsch Style Ale: Nearly odorless brew. Taste reminiscent of your Natty Bohs, PBRs etc. The difference with HooDoo is the presence of a pleasant aftertaste. Overall, a decent light-bodied ale. Good on a hot summer evening. ---Rated via Beer Buddy for iPhone

Bottle pour..medium orange like color..slight haze..little carbonated bubbles slowly rising..aroma is ok..slight green apple..bready presence..leaves some lacing..light bodied..taste has some sweetness that is toned down..mouthfeel has some intricacies involving citrus other fruits..overall this is a fairly good flavorful beer at this abv..would be nice to enjoy in summertime when much warmer out...

Nothing exceptional here, but I like the clean light feel of this one. The aroma is a little faint and blah, but it has a well rounded flavor. The beer delivers a grassy, faintly citrus, and almost a hint of tart funkiness... acidulated malt perhaps? Nice crisp finish that is somewhat smooth... not sure if this is the sun’s highest or lowest point in the sky.

Clear golden yellow color with lots of effervescents. Pillowy white head. Aroma of straw and grass. Clean, crisp and easy drinking. Also has a smooth finish. This beer is spot on for the style and a great beverage to enjoy on a hot summer day.

Tap: slight haze on a light golden pour with thin white head. Aroma is light with grass, bisquit and a little wood. Flavor is sweet with some honey and malt moving to a slight grass/grain tart. Palate is sweet but thin, ending with a light tart. Easy to drink but flavor passes by to quickly. Nice on a got night.

12 ounce bottle - $1.49 at Total Wine & More in Kennesaw, Georgia.

Best Before: 07/21/13.

Appearance: Pours a clear, light yellow body with a tall, proud, white head. Drips and blurbs of lacing on the way down.

Smell: Easy-going malts, a little sun-dried hay, a touch of crustless white loaf bread. Fruity-scented accents smelling of apple and sweet white grapes. Thin sliver of hoppiness.

Taste: Soft maltiness, though, with a skosh more cereal sweetness than expected. A touch of sulphury apple lands early, a few drips of white wine. Lightly herbal hops, lightly bitter. Sweetish, fruityish finish with a good mouth of suds.

Mouthfeel: Medium-thin body. Medium-plus carbonation.

Overall: Refreshing, easy-drinking. Solid enough for an American-born Kölsch.

4oz draft pour as "HooDoo." Poured a slightly hazy yellow color with a medium sized white head. Aroma was wheat, bready, with some light malt character. Flavor was wheat, with light malts. Really easy to consume, nice to drink, very clean. Very sessionable.

31 Mar 2013, bottle (as Hoodoo Kolsch). yellow, clear, steady bubbles, thin lacing. nose is stale hay at first, then perfumey. thin body and moderately fizzy. tastes of slightly soggy lucky charms cereal (not the marshmallows). meh.

Draft from Bayou in SLC. Served in a pint class, this golden ale has nice white lacing throughout the pint. A nicely balanced brew, there are apple cider notes that pair nicely with the bready malt flavor. One of the better 4.0% beers ive tried.
